Scotty McCreery’s son, Merrick Avery McCreery, is officially 6 months old and is his “dad’s biggest fan.”

Scotty’s wife, Gabi, celebrated Avery’s half birthday with a gallery of photos on Instagram. The post included sweet snapshots of their baby boy posing by a letter board commemorating his 6-month milestone.

Also included in the gallery were photos of Avery enjoying solid foods, dipping his toes in the water, enjoying time with their family dog, Moose, and spending quality time with Scotty.

Proving he’s Scotty McCreery’s biggest little fan, Avery was also pictured with protective ear coverings and his very own all access pass.

“6 months with our happy boy 💙💙 Mama’s right hand man and dad’s biggest fan 😁🚎🤩,” Gabi captioned the post.

McCreery, who recently wrapped his Damn Strait Tour, previously opened up to Music Mayhem about bringing his son on tour with him and becoming a “road daddy.”

“[We’re] bringing a baby on the road and getting him used to the lifestyle. Like it or not, [I’m] going to be a road daddy for a while, so hopefully he loves it,” McCreery said. “We’re bringing out a baby bus. So he will be with me out there most of the dates. That will be a fun new way to do the road. I’ve kind of had my system down pat for 10 years now. So, that will be a little change, but a great one.”

Scotty and Gabi welcomed Merrick Avery on October 24, 2022. He arrived 11 days before his due date.

Opened Up About Prioritizing His Life For His Son

Becoming a father has quickly changed McCreery’s way of thinking and impacted the way he makes career decisions

“The power of saying ‘no’ to some things is becoming a big thing for me,” the chart-topping star told US Magazine. “Realizing, ‘Hey man, you’re a father now.’ I wanna be there for my kid.”

While their lives are a bit “crazy right now” due to balancing life on the road with parenthood, the couple is enjoying every second.

“The last four or five months have been incredible just watching our little boy grow,” McCreery said. “We’ve had one [date] since having Avery. The grandparents came over and watched him while we went out to eat, and it was just nice. We love to eat and love to drink a nice glass of wine. I think we were both enjoying the time away, but we’re also wanting to get back to Avery.”

Working On New Music Inspired By His Son

In addition to his hectic touring schedule, McCreery is also in the midst of working on his next album. He recently returned to the studio to begin the record process and promised that there will be a few tracks inspired by his son.

“There’s definitely gonna be some baby songs, as you could guess,” McCreery told Taste of Country. “My music, for sure, has, kind of, leaned a little bit into that autobiographical stuff.”

“Something that I learned about music is how alike we all are rather than different. When I talk about my life, I could be talking about thousands of other people’s lives, and they relate to it, too,” he added. “So there’ll be a lot of life stuff. Just about not taking things for granted, and that’s where I’m at right now — just appreciating this new stage of life and new fatherhood.”

“Why She Gotta Be Like That”

On Thursday (May 4), McCreery surprised fans with the release of a reimagined version of his song, “Why You Gotta Be Like That,” called “Why She Gotta Be Like That,” featuring Columbian singer/songwriter GUSI.

McCreery discovered the Latin sensation on social media after he saw GUSI performing his song “Why You Gotta Be Like That” and was struck with the idea for a duet between the two featuring both Spanish and English verses.

“It Matters To Her”

The country hitmaker is currently celebrating the success of his fast-rising single of his career with “It Matters To Her,” which is currently Top 10 and climbing.

The tune, co-written by McCreery alongside Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller, was influenced by lessons he learned during four years of marriage to his wife Gabi.

Touring With Brooks & Dunn

McCreery will soon join Brooks & Dunn on their REBOOT Tour, which kicks off on Thursday (May 4) and also features support from Megan Moroney.

Scotty McCreery says joining the “Neon Moon” singers on the trek is a “dream come true.”

“Having been a huge fan of their music all my life, going out on the road with Kix and Ronnie is a dream come true for me,” McCreery added. “I can’t wait for this tour to begin!”

Scotty McCreery Is Currently Featured In Country Music Hall of Fame Exhibit

Additionally, Scotty McCreery is currently a featured artist in the new American Currents: State Of The Music, an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame that runs through February 4, 2024.

“It feels pretty incredible to be a part of this great group of American Currents here at the Country Music Hall of Fame. I have driven by the Hall of Fame a bunch. I have taken the tours. I’ve walked through and seen it and always wanted to be a part of it. It’s an honor to be included,” McCreery previously shared.
