Scotty McCreery Says His 2-Month-Old Son Is The “Best Christmas Present Of All”

McCreery previously told CMA that this year he received the “best Christmas present of all,” his 2-month-old son, Merrick Avery.

“This is my first Christmas as a dad so I’m just excited to spend it as a family,” McCreery gushed. “You know, it’s always been me, my wife, and my dog [Moose] and now we’re adding a little man to it. So, I can’t wait… just kind of giving him presents that he won’t even know are there but that one day hopefully he’ll appreciate and just spending that quality time together is gonna be awesome.”

At the time, he also opened up about the Christmas traditions they have that he and Gabi hope to continue with their son.

“As far as traditions go me and my wife it’s typically just kind of the every other year with the family thing that we do so her family’s off in Louisiana so a lot of times we go to New Orleans for Christmas one year and then we’ll stay back in [North] Carolina for one Christmas with my family,” McCreery explained. “So, I have a feeling we’ll be continuing that on, so the baby will have some southern Christmases for sure, some Cajun Christmases. I didn’t grow up eating crawfish for Christmas but he’s gonna get used to it so it’s pretty awesome.”

McCreery Will Soon Hit The Road On His Damn Strait Tour

After soaking up the holidays at home with his family, Scotty McCreery is now preparing to hit the road on a 20+ date tour, dubbed the Damn Strait Tour. The trek, which kicks off on January 20, 2023, in Hinton, OK at the Sugar Creek Casino, will visit over a dozen states and run through April of 2023.

“Looking forward to hitting the road in 2023 with the Damn Strait Tour,” McCreery previously shared. “I’ve enjoyed my time at home learning to be a Dad to Avery, but I’ve missed being onstage with the band and performing for the fans. Can’t wait to see everyone in the new year!”

McCreery will also be bringing his wife and son along for the outing, which will mark his son’s first time on the road.

“[We’re] bringing a baby on the road and getting him used to the lifestyle. Like it or not, [I’m] going to be a road daddy for a while, so hopefully he loves it,” McCreery told Music Mayhem. “We’re bringing out a baby bus,” McCreery added. “So he will be with me out there most of the dates. That will be a fun new way to do the road. I’ve kind of had my system down pat for 10 years now. So, that will be a little change, but a great one.”

The tour takes its name from McCreery’s fifth consecutive chart-topper, “Damn Strait,” which stayed at No.1 for several weeks and also landed at No. 4 on the Billboard Year End Country Airplay chart along with being named among Billboard’s “10 Best Country Songs of 2022.”

McCreery’s current single “It Matters To Her” continues to climb the charts at Country radio.
