Scotty McCreery and his wife, Gabi McCreery, welcomed their son, Avery, into the world just a little over a month ago, which means they’ve already experienced plenty of firsts with their little boy.

And one of those firsts happens to be the holidays.

The first-time parents recently spent Halloween and Thanksgiving with their sweet bundle of joy. And, by the looks of it, the child fits right into the McCreery mix as seen in a photo that shows him spending time with his extended family.

McCreery shared a snapshot on Instagram, which finds him and his bride all smiles while showing off their infant child with the in-laws.

“Happy Thanksgiving, y’all! 🦃🍁,” the caption reads alongside the post, which features baby Avery, who was born Oct. 24 at 4:34 a.m. ET in Raleigh, N.C., resting peacefully in his mommy’s arms while McCreery proudly stands behind his wife and son.

“For holidays, we always split up to the two, Thanksgiving and Christmas with our families,” McCreery told Music Mayhem of his festive plans. “So, this Thanksgiving is with my family. We’ll go back home to see my folks, a lot of cousins and uncles, and aunts. It will be awesome. Everybody will be excited to see Avery. They’re texting us all of the time about it.”

McCreery also revealed his Christmas plans, saying he and his loved ones will travel South to visit Gabi’s side of the family.

“For Christmas, every other year, we travel with her family. So, we’re going down to Louisiana and going to New Orleans and hanging out and seeing that side of the family,” he explained. “It will be a nice Cajun Christmas and all of the gumbo and jambalaya. So it will be a lot of fun.”

And, while it seems everyone in the family has gotten used to having baby McCreery around, one member, in particular, is still coming around to the fact that Avery will be taking up a lot of time and attention. And that is McCreery’s longtime pet dog, Moose.

“It took him a little bit to realize that Avery was here to stay, and we weren’t just babysitting a little bit,” McCreery shared. “But he’s doing good. He’s loving being a big brother. We’ll look at him across the room and say, ‘Moose, give your little brother a kiss and he’ll walk over and give Avery a kiss on his head.’ So he’s being really sweet with him, really gentle and loving on him. I think he’s still having to get used to not being No. 1 in the house anymore. Not all of the attention is going to Moose, but he’s doing great.”

As for McCreery, the adjustments he’s had to make primarily consist of having to step into the role of being a first-time father since there is no rule book on how to be the “perfect” parent.

“I’m learning every day,” he shared. “I’m not sure that I knew what to expect. So it hasn’t been too many surprises. But, I mean, for me, it’s the sleep thing. You hear about it, people say, sleep when you can. But until it really happens, he’s yelling in the middle of the night at 3:00 am, and you’re like, ‘Oh my goodness.’ But it’s still so cute when he does, and I love him so much. I can’t even be upset when I’m not sleeping. The diaper changes and stuff too. I thought I’d be grossed out, but it’s been okay, so far. So all good.”

McCreery recently returned to the road on November 30 in Las Vegas, NV at the Downtown Hoedown on Fremont Street.
