Morgan Wallen said he’s “in the middle” of making a new album and shared how he plans to close out 2022.

While co-hosting Country Countdown USA with Lon Helton on Oct. 23, Wallen said he’s got enough songs for his latest project but still wants to write a few more.

“In the middle… I don’t know exactly [where]…” Wallen told Helton when asked where he is in the process of working on the project.

“I definitely have enough songs. I still got a couple more things I think I probably want to say, want to write. So, hopefully get that done in the next month or two and then you know, I don’t know exactly… I won’t have the whole record done, I just mean get what I need to say done and written in the next month or two and then just grind it out. So, I don’t know exactly… They got me on a timeline, but that don’t mean I’m going to follow it, but to be fair you do got to put them out. That does got to happen,” he added.

In discussing his latest release, Wallen didn’t nail down a specific date but did reveal “it ain’t going to be before spring.” The forthcoming new album will follow his record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album.

Although he doesn’t have a definite release date set, Wallen has no problem teasing new music on social media. On Oct. 29, the “You Proof” singer posted a snippet of an unreleased song on Instagram called “Me + All Your Reasons.”

The one-minute clip of the song finds Wallen regretting past decisions following a breakup.

“Smoke on my clothes / liquor on my breath / devil on my shoulder / strangers in my bed / pills in my pocket / ashes on the floor / these bad decisions keep on knockin’ on my door / I know you think you left me all alone / I hate to say it you couldn’t be more wrong / got Copenhagen whiskey straight / empty bottle promise breakin’ / by the way I let you down, down / I went around came back round / the Sunday morning still asleep / traded angels for my demons / I ain’t lonely since your leaving / I got me and all your reasons / all your reasons…,” he sings.

Besides talking about new music, Wallen also told Helton how he plans to close out 2022.

“Holidays. Hanging out with my little boy. Trying to get out in the deer stand as much as I can. I got about eight or nine days booked off to go duck hunting and then working on this album,” he explained.

Wallen’s plans to spend time with his son, Indigo “Indie” Wilder Wallen follows a recent video he shared of himself hanging out with the two-year-old. In the adorable video, Wallen and his son can be seen singing their “ABCs.”

“Me and Indie have been taking videos in the stairwell the last hour, figured I’d share one that cracked me up lol,” Wallen wrote of the clip.

Attending and performing “You Proof” at next week’s (Nov. 9) CMA Awards is also on his list of end-of-the-year plans.

Wallen has scored three nominations for this year’s awards: Song of the Year (for Dangerous track, “Sand In My Boots”), Male Vocalist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

The 56th Annual CMA Awards will be broadcast from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 9 beginning at 8 p.m. on ABC and will also be available the next day on Hulu. Luke Bryan and NFL star Peyton Manning are slated to host.

In the meantime, Wallen is preparing to send “Thought You Should Know,” a song in honor of his mom, Lesli to country radio as his next single.
