Miranda Lambert joined forces with Lainey Wilson for a pair of surprise duets at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on Friday evening (Dec. 15). The Texas native made a surprise appearance during Wilson’s third sold-out performance in Sin City, as part of her four-show stint presented by Wrangler, which coincides with the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), taking place in Las Vegas from Thursday, Dec. 7 through Saturday, Dec. 16.

Performed Lambert’s Hit “Kerosene”

In the midst of Lainey Wilson’s headlining set at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, the reigning CMA Entertainer Of The Year shocked the capacity crowd when she welcomed Miranda Lambert to the stage for an unexpected performance of “Kerosene,” a tune that appears on Lambert’s debut album of the same name.

“She’s my ride or die, she’d fight somebody for me. Y’all give it up for my girl, Miranda Lambert,” Wilson said, introducing Lambert. Donning all-black western ensembles complete with bell bottoms, the pair of country superstars took turns singing the song’s verses before teaming up for the fourth verse of the chart-topping hit.

“Forget your high society, I’m soakin’ it in kerosene/ Light ’em up and watch them burn, teach them what they need to learn; ha!/ Dirty hands ain’t made for shakin’, ain’t a rule that ain’t worth breakin’/ Well, I’m givin’ up on love ’cause love’s given up on me,” Wilson and Lambert sang.

Debut Unreleased New Song, “Good Horses”

The pair of superstars then debuted a brand-new unreleased song, titled “Good Horses.” Wilson then explained, “We wrote a few songs [together]… this song I think is so, so, so special, and you can hear [Miranda] all over it. You can tell that she helped me write this song. I’m so proud of this song and I hope y’all love it.” Wilson and Lambert co-wrote the tune with Luke Dick. The performance marked the live debut of the song, and Lambert admitted that it gave her “chills” in an Instagram post.

“I don’t need the map/ I don’t need a road/ I don’t need a fence/ I just need to know/ if you want to love me/ you don’t need to rope/ you just need to know/ I don’t need a compass/ I don’t need a saddle/ let go of the reins baby, let me unravel/ If you want to love me/ you don’t need to rope/ you just need to know/ Good Horses come home,” the pair sing in perfect harmony on the tune’s chorus.

It’s unclear if this song will be released as a duet between Wilson and Lambert, or if it will debut as a solo track from one of the country stars at a later date.

Pony Bradshaw and Meg McRee served opened the show. Lainey Wilson will return to The Virgin Hotels stage to finish out her series of sold-out shows in Las Vegas on Saturday evening (Dec. 16), featuring support from Colby Acuff and Harper O’Neill.

Wilson Recently Attended Lambert’s Star-Studded 40th Birthday Party

This isn’t the first time the Wilson and Lambert hung out together this year. Last month, Lainey Wilson attended Miranda Lambert’s star-studded 40th birthday bash at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth. Following Lambert’s post sharing a photo with Wilson from the event, fans took to the comments and begged for a collaboration between the two superstars, and it seems their wish could be coming true with “Good Horses.”

“For Christmas we wish for a Lainey and Miranda collab,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I think we need a Lainey and Miranda duet.”

Wilson Shares Advice Lambert Offered Her Early On In Her Career

Lainey Wilson has been a longtime fan of Miranda Lambert and has always admired her resilience and hard work. So much so that Lambert has become somewhat of a mentor to Wilson through the years. Early on in Wilson’s career, Lambert offered some valuable advice with the “Wildflowers And Wild Horses” singer, giving her that extra boost of confidence she needed to keep going.

“I’ve gotten a lot of advice from Miranda Lambert… Over this past year, she has really taken me under her wing. Any question, she’s just like, ‘Lainey, there’s no stupid question. Just ask whatever,’” Wilson told Audacy’s Katie and Company during an interview in 2022. “She has just given me that extra confidence, peace of mind, whatever it might be that I need that day to keep on going and to hear it from somebody firsthand who has literally been through it all, who has seen it all, done it all, I just trust and I value her opinion.”

During an interview with Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen on Apple Music Country, Wilson also opened up about leaning on Lambert for support during the darkest times of her life. “Sometimes it can be lonely because at times you feel like, man, I don’t even know who I could talk to right now that would understand. Miranda is one of those people for me. She’s helped me through a lot. It’s the life on the road part that’s hard. It’s the early mornings, it’s the late nights. Anybody who has lack of sleep, you’re going to start feeling a little bit off.”

Lambert Previously Praised Wilson’s Authenticity

Miranda Lambert also recently applauded Wilson for having thick skin and for working her way up the musical ladder while staying true to her authentic self in the face of critics and naysayers.

While speaking to Music Mayhem, the 40-year-old “Carousel” singer shared, “Lainey is a badass. I love how she knows exactly who she is and does such a great job sharing that with the world,” Lambert said, raving of Wilson. “She’s worked so hard for years and is so deserving of all the success she’s having. I can’t wait to watch her keep killing it.”
