Lainey Wilson made her late night debut as a solo artist with an impressive performance of her current single, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses,” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday evening (Dec. 12).
Donning her signature gold bell bottoms, a tan cowboy hat and a fringe jacket, the reigning CMA Entertainer Of The Year belted out the lyrics to the fan-favorite track.
“I’m five generations of blazing a trail / Through barbed wire valleys and overgrown dells / I’m barefoot and bareback and born tough as nails / Whoa, whoa, whoa / I’m four-fifths of reckless and one-fifth of jack / I push like a daisy through old sidewalk cracks / Yeah, my kinda crazy’s still running its courses with / Wildflowers and wild horses,” Wilson sang on the chorus of the song.

Story Behind Lainey Wilson’s “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”
Co-written by Lainey Wilson alongside Trannie Anderson and Paul Sikes, “Wildflowers and Wild Horses” is a soulful tune that allows Wilson’ to return to her roots and pays homage to the “five generations” of farmers that came before her.
“This one definitely shows that western side, it takes me back to my childhood. It takes me back to my roots,” Wilson recently shared the Music Mayhem and other media outlets during the “Heart Like A Truck” No. 1 party in Nashville. “I come from a long line of hardheaded tough people and people who have kind of blazed their own trails. I’m from five generations of farmers in northeast Louisiana, and I always compare farming to the music business. I mean, you get up every day, do the same thing, you have good years, you have bad years, but you just keep on blazing that trail. So I think it’s just kind of digging a little deeper into my story.”
The tune, which follows chart-topping hits “Heart Like A Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine,” marks the third single from her GRAMMY-nominated sophomore album, Bell Bottom Country. “Wildflowers And Wild Horses” made a major impact at Country radio on Monday, November 13, with 78 adds, earning the title of the second most-added song that week.
The tune also appears as the soundtrack to Wrangler’s 2023 fall/winter collection commercial. Wilson was also named the new face of Wrangler earlier this year. Additionally, fans can look forward to a Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Capsule Collection, expected to launch in Fall 2024.
GRAMMY Nominations, Sweeps CMA Awards
The performance comes after Wilson delivered the television debut of the song with a fiery performance during the 57th Annual CMA Awards, where she also took home five trophies at the 2023 CMA Awards, including the coveted Entertainer Of The Year, Album Of The Year (Bell Bottom Country), Female Vocalist Of The Year, Musical Event Of The Year (“Wait In The Truck” with HARDY) and Music Video Of The Year (“Wait In The Truck” with HARDY).
Lainey Wilson recently earned two GRAMMY nominations, including Best Country Album for Bell Bottom Country and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me.”

Country’s Cool Again Tour
Additionally, Wilson is gearing up to embark on her first-ever headlining Amphitheater tour, dubbed the Country’s Cool Again Tour, launching in May of 2024. The 35+ date trek, which marks her biggest tour yet, kicks off on May 31 in Nashville, TN, and includes a stop in New York City at the iconic Radio City Music Hall.
“It’s a big jump from where we were top of this year playing clubs,” Wilson told the NY Post of the massive outing. “It’s really crazy to kind of sit back and think about the growth of what has happened.”
The Country’s Cool Again Tour will feature support from special guests Jackson Dean, Ian Munsick and Zach Top on select dates.
