Lainey Wilson is a talented country singer. She also plays Abby on Paramount Network’s popular western TV drama series, Yellowstone. And now, the 31-year-old “Heart Like A Truck” singer is adding another credit to her already impressive resume: brand icon.
Back on May 2, Wrangler announced via a press release that Wilson would be the face of the brand’s fall/winter 2023 women’s collection. The women’s collection includes jeans, tops, and jackets and Wilson will support the multi-year collaboration via campaign imagery, social media content, onstage denim exclusivity, and select meet-and-greet appearances.
“The Perfect Fit“
In reacting to the news that she’d be the new face of Wrangler, Wilson called the partnership “the perfect fit.”
“I have been devoted to the Western lifestyle all my life, and there’s nothing that feels more like home than a pair of Wrangler jeans,” Wilson said. “Teaming up with this brand feels like the perfect fit and there are so many new, exciting, and trendy styles for women in the upcoming collection, including my favorite bell bottom flare pieces.”
Holly Wheeler, Wrangler’s Vice President of Global Marketing expressed similar excitement, sharing that the brand was “thrilled” to have Wilson on board as part of their new campaign.
“Over the last several years, Lainey Wilson has become a genuine and inspirational voice to fans of the brand, sharing her honest journey from a PRCA flag girl to an award-winning musician,” Wheeler said.
“As the most recognized female artist in recent country music history and a leading voice in the Western movement, we’re thrilled to have her represent Wrangler alongside other industry greats like George Strait, Jon Pardi and Cody Johnson,” she added.
Besides the brand’s fall/winter 2023 women’s collection, Wilson will also be the face of Wrangler’s spring 2024 collection, according to the same release. Additionally, a Wrangler x Lainey Wilson Capsule Collection is expected in the fall of 2024.
“True To Me And My Story“
In an interview about her new partnership with Wrangler, Wilson emphasized the importance of authentic collaborations.
“I feel like I’m in a position right now to where a lot of opportunities are coming our way, but it’s really important to me to work with people and brands that I feel like are true to me and my story,” the “Heart Like A Truck” singer admitted.
“I mean, I grew up in a town of 200 people in northeast Louisiana and grew up on the back of a horse and my mom and daddy had me in a pair of Wrangler [jeans] just about every single day,” she said.
In discussing her personal style, Wilson has also previously shared her affinity for another article of clothing: bell bottoms.
During a January 2023 interview with Variety, Wilson reflected on the first pair of bell bottoms she ever owned.
“I remember my very first pair of bell bottoms. They were blue leopard print. My mama bought ’em. And it got to the point where I was wearing ’em so much, she was like, ‘You gotta take ’em off. We gotta put ’em in the washer,’” she explained to the outlet.
Wilson went on to say how she associates bell bottoms with her childhood and nostalgia. She also explained how used the staple to set her apart from her fellow female country artists.
“I was really trying to figure out what could I do to stand apart from the rest of the females in Nashville, because it’s very important to do that. And what is something that is really true to me?,” the “Heart Like A Truck” singer recalled. “For me, it was the whole bell bottom throwback look. And I’m glad we did.”
“I mean, we’ve been doing it now for probably about six years solid. Probably 2016 is when I decided, all right, if I’m gonna do this, I need to wear bell bottoms and need to wear my vintage shirts and stuff like that, daily,” she added.
Bell Bottom Country
Of course, bell bottoms aren’t just part of Wilson’s signature style, they’re also part of her music. Wilson released her sophomore album, Bell Bottom Country in 2022.
The album features 16 tracks, including single, “Heart Like A Truck,” “Watermelon Moonshine,” “Grease,” and others.
Following the success of Bell Bottom Country, Wilson is currently supporting Luke Combs on his massive 2023 World Tour. She will also play multiple festival dates this summer before hitting the road with Eric Church and HARDY, respectively.
