Miranda Lambert Singing “Carousel” In Las Vegas

Miranda Lambert continues her ‘Velvet Rodeo‘ Las Vegas residency well into the new year. In fact, she just added a handful of dates that will keep her in Sin City through the end of 2023. She left some gaps along the way, allowing her time to hit some major festivals and perhaps a few other one-offs. But she’ll own the stage at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood on the Strip until December 16, 2023.

In a new conversation with Music Connection, she’s discussing some of the highlights of the residency, which began in September. She also talked about her latest, critically-acclaimed album, Palomino. “Carousel” is a memorable part of both.

“It’s a huge moment in the show,” Lambert said. “It’s not stripped down, but it’s more dramatic because of lighting and production. Sometimes it’s hard to get through. Being a writer on it, I’m still so in it and wrapped up in the story every time I sing it. And it’s heartbreaking Singing it every night, I want to make sure that I’m getting the story across. I sing as close to the mic as I can, and we use the tricks of the trade with the lighting and everything. That’s something I appreciate about the Las Vegas setting. You can highlight lyrics more because you’re indoors and it’s controlled. For a song like that, it’s really cool to set it up and make the production a part of the story.”

On her Instagram, Miranda Lambert recently called the “Carousel” moment one of her three favorite in the Las Vegas show. She’s backed by a full carousel on stage. It’s a moment that would be extremely difficult to execute on tour, but the freedom of having a Las Vegas production team and a stage to yourself makes it easier to pull off.

“My favorite three parts in the show are the entrance, coming up the elevator,” she begins. “I’ve never ridden an elevator that’s going up to the stage before, so that was really fun. I love the ‘Carousel’ moment because I love that song, and it’s so emotional and I love the content behind it and it’s beautiful. My other favorite moment is probably when I light my arms on fire. Because that’s really fun – like a walking firework.”

Earlier in the run, Miranda Lambert revealed her “walking firework” jacket via her Instagram. As she stretches her arms out, pyrotechnics shoot from the arms of the jacket. It’s quite a moment in a huge production that she has created for a Las Vegas stage.

She’ll step away from Las Vegas for a few festival dates in the summer of 2023. There’s a stop in Panama City Beach for Gulf Coast Jam in June. She also makes stops in South Carolina and Minnesota in June. There’s room for her to put a few more dates around that run, but she’ll spend much of the year tending to her residency.

Check out all of the dates and get ticket information for each stop at her website
