Miranda Lambert kicked off her much-anticipated Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency with a bang (literally) on Friday evening (Sept. 24) at Zappos Theater inside Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The 7,000-capacity venue allowed Lambert to truly connect with her fans throughout the show as she brought the intimate feel of a Broadway honky-tonk to Sin City.

The 90-minute, sold-out show was a celebration of Lambert’s artistry with a 22-song, career-spanning set list that featured tunes from her debut album, Kerosene, to her current project, Palomino.

With a stage production unlike anything fans have ever seen from Lambert, the Velvet Rodeo is a must-see.

See a list of five highlights from the Velvet Rodeo below.

Set List Included Fan-Favorites

Lambert’s 22-song set list spanned radio hits but also included a few album cuts, much to the liking of her dedicated fans. The tracks “Carousel” and “Geraldene,” from her latest release, Palomino, were a welcome addition to her set. In fact, fans are begging her to release the latter to country radio following its continued traction on TikTok.

Fiery Production

Since her standout performance of “Kerosene” at the 2005 CMA Awards, Lambert has been known to set things ablaze and her Las Vegas residency was no different. She took her love of all things pyro to the next level with several explosive moments throughout the show.

Tender Moments

When she wasn’t setting things on fire, Lambert tugged at the heartstrings with tender moments, like her performance of “The House That Built Me,” and a chilling rendition of “Tin Man” that had all eyes on Lambert as she was surrounded by striking beams of light in the center of the theater.

Personal Touches

It was obvious that Lambert spent a lot of time adding personal touches to the show. Several moments included family and childhood photos, nods to her Texas upbringing, and references to iconic moments of her career.

The downtown scene displayed during her performance of “Famous In A Small Town” included a Pink Pistol storefront, the Red 55 Winery, Casa Rosa, and of course the “quick stop” referenced in the song lyrics.

The Grand Finale

Lambert’s set concluded with a rowdy party vibe as she returned to the stage for a four-song finale that began with “Mama’s Broken Heart,” which featured a visually stunning video production.

She then erupted into a fiery performance of “Gunpowder & Lead” that found Lambert donning a pink Idyllwind fringe jacket that had sparks of pyro bursting out of the sleeves, making for a moment that had jaws dropping as fans arose from their seats in awe.

The Texas native’s set concluded with an all-out party as pink confetti rained down from above during a sing-along to “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home).”

The evening capped off with an explosive performance of “Little Red Wagon” before the hitmaker exited the stage beneath the glow of her name in lights.
