Scotty McCreery is celebrating his 30th birthday with his son Merrick Avery and wife Gabi Dugal McCreery by his side.

On Monday, October 9th, Gabi posted a picture on her Instagram stories featuring McCreery alongside their almost one-year-old son to celebrate McCreery’s milestone birthday. The snapshot features McCreery holding Avery in his arms on a couch surrounded by gold and white balloons.

“30 years young today @scottymccreery,” Gabi captioned the image alongside a few emojis.

Weeks before his birthday, Scotty McCreery shared with Music Mayhem that he has plans to venture into the mountains with a group of friends to celebrate his special day.

“For my birthday this year, we’re going up to the mountains with my buddies,” McCreery previously shared. “We always do a golf tournament twice a year. So this year will be on my birthday weekend.”

To Be Inducted Into North Carolina Music Hall of Fame

In just a few weeks, McCreery will celebrate two more milestones as he will be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and his son will turn one.

On October 19, McCreery will be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame alongside five others, including Betty Davis, Bill “Fatback” Curtis, Fetchin Bones, George Beverly Shea, and Loudon Wainwright III. The special event will take place on Thursday, October 19 at the Mooresville Performing Arts Center in Mooresville, North Carolina.

With this achievement, McCreery joins the ranks of notable artists such as Eric Church, Kellie Pickler, Charlie Daniels, and numerous others. Of his honor, McCreery said, “[It’s] pretty incredible. I’ve always just loved a lot of the music that has come out of North Carolina…. Randy Travis and Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Daniels, even Andy Griffith are in the Hall of Fame there, so just to be mentioned among them is such great company and such an honor for me.”

“If you follow me, you know how much I love North Carolina,” he added. “If you listen to my records, there’s always a song about North Carolina on there. I still make my home there. So, it’s a very special honor for me. We’re going to have all of our family and friends there that night.”

Son Avery Will Soon Turn 1

After being inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, Scotty McCreery will celebrate his son’s 1st birthday with a Toy Story-themed party just a few days before Halloween.

“For Avery’s birthday, we’re having a Toy Story-themed party. So I have a feeling I’ll be dressing up as Woody, and there will be plenty of other characters around,” McCreery revealed to Music Mayhem. “So we’re excited about that.”

He also hinted that, given the proximity of Avery’s birthday to Halloween, their costumes for the Toy Story party might double as their Halloween outfits this year. “I think the Toy Story party will be right around that time, so that might be our Halloween this year,” McCreery admitted. “Then we might just be handing out candy with Avery as a little pumpkin or something on the 31st,” he continues. “But Toy Story is going to be our big costume theme this year.”

“Cab In A Solo”

McCreery’s 30th birthday comes as his current single, “Cab In A Solo,” makes its way into the Top 40 at Country radio, just weeks after its release.  “Cab In A Solo” officially impacted Country radio on Monday (Aug. 21), accumulating a staggering 120 first-week adds from radio stations spanning the United States.

“UNREAL🤯🤯🤯 Thank you COUNTRY RADIO!!!” McCreery wrote to celebrate the milestone on Instagram.

The track received the most first week adds of McCreery’s career as well as the largest first week for his label Triple Tigers and the third biggest add day of the year.

Co-written by The North Carolina native alongside Brent Anderson and Frank Rogers, the tune came to fruition during a writing retreat in his home state.

“I brought several of my writer buddies to the mountains of North Carolina for a few days to write songs, and that’s where ‘Cab in a Solo’ was born,” McCreery recalled in a press release. “This song is pure country. I’m excited to share it with everyone.”

The track is a heartbreak anthem that tells the story of a man who witnesses his ex moving on with someone new after a failed attempt to win her over once again.

“Sittin’ here, I can’t believe what I just saw / Couple shadows kissin’ on the bedroom wall / It’s lookin’ like my plan didn’t work out at all / Heartbreak turned into broke up / So now I’m findin’ out how a heartbreak taste / With a Silver Oak, 1998 / Drinkin’ cab in a solo / Solo in the cab of my truck,” he sings on the chorus.

“Cab In A Solo” comes after McCreery’s six consecutive hits, which include “It Matters To Her,” “Damn Strait,” “You Time,” “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It” and “In Between.”

New Album

Released to streaming platforms on Friday (Aug. 18), ”Cab In A Solo” will appear on McCreery’s forthcoming, yet-to-be announced new album.

McCreery’s upcoming new album will continue to showcase his love for traditional country music. “It’s Country. Our steel guitar player, Mike Johnson, got in the studio with us, and he’s like, ‘Man, I actually get to play Country music this week!’ He was lovin’ it, and I love singing that stuff, so hopefully folks are ready for a good dose of country music,” he told Audacy’s Katie Neal.

He also told Music Mayhem that his new project will be less autobiographical.

“There will be a baby song on there and a song for Gabi. But, I would say, as a whole, this record is a little less autobiographical than previous records. I kind of went into it with that in mind,” McCreery tells Music Mayhem. “…. We kinda tried different directions on this record. There’s a song for Avery. There’s a song for Gabi. Some heartbreak and some breakup songs. Some honky tonk songs and stuff I really haven’t done before on records.”

While Scotty McCreery hasn’t yet shared a release date for the project, he did admit that he hopes for it to be released in early 2024.
