Scotty McCreery stopped by ABC’s Good Morning America on Wednesday (June 14) morning to perform a special rendition of his latest single, “It Matters To Her.” The tune appears on McCreery’s fifth studio album, Same Truck, as well as the deluxe version of that project, which dropped in the fall of 2022.
Taking the stage inside the New York City studio, McCreery appeared in his element while standing amid a slideshow of photos featuring his beautiful wife and childhood sweetheart, Gabi McCreery. But what made the moment more adorable is his wife and the couple’s seven-month-old baby boy, Merrick Avery McCreery, whom they refer to as Avery, were standing side stage to watch the proud father and loving husband perform live.

Scotty McCreery’s “It Matters To Her”
Penned by McCreery with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller, “It Matters To Her” is a romantic ode to the Season 10 American Idol winner’s wife.
The mid-tempo song features lyrics that, according to a press release, highlight the wisdom that the Garner, North Carolina native has gained throughout the years while being married to the love of his life. In the lyrics, McCreery runs through all of the little gestures that he does in his relationship that stand out in his wife’s mind. Some of them include stopping to buy her favorite wine on the way home, kissing her while she’s still asleep, and being available to her when she needs a friend.
“It matters to her, it stays on her mind / When you put her first every single time / When you think she don’t see, when you think she don’t care / When you think she don’t notice what you’re doin’ there / Every little look, every single word / Oh, it matters to her,” McCreery sings throughout the chorus while backed by his full band.
As previously shared, “It Matters To Her” can be found on both of McCreery’s recent albums, 2021’s Same Truck and 2022’s Same Truck: The Deluxe Album.
The song, which is one of McCreery’s many personal life-themed tracks that have resonated with his “McCreerians,” has become the fastest-rising song of the hitmakers career as it continues to climb up the country charts. “It Matters To Her,” also follows five of McCreery’s consecutive No. 1 hits, including “Damn Strait” (Platinum-Certified), “You Time” (Gold Certified), “Five More Minutes,” (RIAA Platinum-Certified), “This is It” (Platinum-certified) and “In Between” (Gold-Certified). The latter of the three belong on McCreery’s Seasons Change album.
Preparing To Celebrate Fifth Wedding Anniversary With Wife Gabi
“It Matters To Her” plays out as an extra special kick-off performance to a new week for McCreery as he will celebrate his fifth wedding anniversary with Gabi on Friday (June 16). The pair wed on June 16, 2018, in the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, McCreery admits: “I’m still learning, trust me — got a long way to go.”
Of “It Matters To Her,” he adds, “But it’s what I’ve learned so far. We put it all into a song, and it’s got a little kind of country vibe that I grew up with, and I just love it. I turn it up whenever it’s on the radio.”
In addition to celebrating five wonderful years with his bride, McCreery is on the road for three shows as part of Brooks & Dunn’s REBOOT Tour 2023. In July, he will embark on his headlining tour.
