It’s safe to say that Scotty McCreery has a pretty good handle on his role as a first-time father to his sweet son, Avery, whom he shares with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Gabi McCreery.
The North Carolina native, who welcomed his child into the world in Oct. of 2022, has spent the past twelve months getting to know his wee one’s personality. He has also learned how to tend to the bundle of joy’s needs, from changing the little tyke’s diapers to taking part in bottle feedings to teaching the adorable baby how to root for dad’s favorite football teams.

Brad Paisley And Brett Young Offered Scotty McCreery Parenting Advice
But even while he’s gained plenty of knowledge with the help of his wife and on his own through trial and error, McCreery is not opposed to acquiring parenting tips from his fellow country cohorts. In fact, the 29-year-old “Cab In A Solo” singer says he has received some useful advice from other artists.
“I’ve had a few people give advice,” McCreery told Music Mayhem in an interview. “I’ve got to see Brett Young. I stayed with him a couple nights on his bus and saw his crib that he got for his baby at the time.”
“We did one show in Nashville before Avery was born. Brad Paisley was on the bill, and we were like, ‘Brad. Did you ever bring your newborns out on the road?’ He said, ‘Oh God no!’”

Avery Is A Road Baby
Despite Paisley’s resistance toward bringing kids on the road during tours, McCreery has chosen to follow in Young’s footsteps. He previously had his bus outfitted to accommodate Avery on the road and has enjoyed having his son out during his tours, including Brooks & Dunn’s 2023 Reboot Tour.
“The touring life has been completely different,” McCreery said of the change. “…. He’s got a crib and all of his toys, diapers, and wipes, and you name it. He’s stocked up there. So, it’s been fun. It’s been different, though. I’m used to grabbing a few bottles after I get off stage, milk bottles, and warming them up. It’s just as soon as I get back on the bus, that’s normally bedtime for him. So it’s been a little different.”
“I think it’s a little different of a territory that we’re diving into bringing an actual infant on the road,” McCreery added. “Now he’s a baby, but we’re learning. I don’t think there’s a right way to do anything, but we’re learning.”

And while it sounds like Avery has been a good sport on the road with his father, the little guy will likely have to get used to being in the band since McCreery has new music in the works. That means he will likely announce a tour once he drops his upcoming studio album.
“Cab In A Solo,” New Album
Thus far, folks have gotten to hear some new material from the upcoming project with the release of “Cab In A Solo,” co-written with Brent Anderson and Frank Rogers. And by the success of the track, there’s no doubt the rest of the album will be worth a listen!
In fact, “Cab In A Solo,” which follows six consecutive hits — “It Matters To Her,” “Damn Strait,” “You Time,” “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It” and “In Between” — became the most-added song of the week with 120 stations adding the song into their rotation. The success also marked the most first-week adds of McCreery’s career, the largest first-week showing for his label, Triple Tigers, and the third-biggest ad day of the year.
“Wow! I’ve been doing this now for twelve years, and this is the largest add week I’ve ever had, and it’s the first time I’ve had the most added song on my first week,” McCreery shared in a statement. “Thank You country radio for all your support, both now and through the years, and thanks to the Triple Tigers promotion team. I’ll be drinking cab in a solo tonight!”
At this point, McCreery hasn’t yet shared a release date for the project. Keep up with McCreery for all new updates and tour information HERE.
