Scotty McCreery and his 11-month-old son, Merrick Avery McCreery, are twinning in New England Patriots jerseys in the latest Instagram post from the “Cab In A Solo” singer.

On Monday morning (Sept. 11), the country superstar took to social media to share a series of photos on social media, featuring his wife, Gabi, and their son, Avery, as they celebrated the start of the fall football season over the weekend.

Adorable Family Photos

“First football weekend of the year! 🏈” McCreery captioned the carousel of images.

The post featured four pictures, including two where McCreery and his son sported matching New England Patriots’ jerseys with McCreery and the number one emblazoned on the back on Sunday (Sept. 10). Another photo in the carousel captured McCreery, his wife, and son attending the North Carolina State University Wolfpack game in Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday (Sept. 9).

Despite being from North Carolina, Scotty McCreery has always been a longtime fan of the New England Patriots. He often writes about the football team on social media as well as sports their gear on a regular basis.

First NFL Sunday

In October of 2022, Scotty McCreery and his son, who was a newborn at the time, wore matching ensembles as they cheered on the Patriots together from McCreery’s home in The Tar Heel State just days after Avery’s birth.

“Avery’s first NFL Sunday! Go Pats, buddy!” McCreery captioned the photo at the time.

New England Patriots’ Gift

Ahead of Avery’s birth, the New England Patriots sent McCreery a gift, a custom baby jersey.

“Baby’s first jersey!!!” he wrote in his Instagram stories at the time, sharing a snapshot of the adorable child-sized Patriots’ jersey and a letter from the sports team.

Avery was born on Monday (Oct. 24), 11 days ahead of schedule, weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz., and measuring 21 inches.

New Single, “Cab In A Solo”

The new photos come as his current single, “Cab In A Solo,” makes its way into the Top 40 at Country radio, just weeks after its release.  “Cab In A Solo” officially impacted Country radio on Monday (Aug. 21), accumulating a staggering 120 first-week adds from radio stations spanning the United States.

“UNREAL🤯🤯🤯 Thank you COUNTRY RADIO!!!” McCreery wrote to celebrate the milestone on Instagram.

Makes History With Most First Week Adds Of His Career

The track received the most first week adds of McCreery’s career as well as the largest first week for his label Triple Tigers and the third biggest add day of the year.

Released to streaming platforms on Friday (Aug. 18), ”Cab In A Solo” will appear on McCreery’s forthcoming, yet-to-be announced new album.

The overwhelming response from the radio community not only highlights the song’s instant appeal but also underscores Scotty McCreery’s ongoing ability to captivate audiences.

Reacted To The News

Upon hearing the news, the 29-year-old singer/songwriter quickly reacted to the milestone.

“Wow! I’ve been doing this now for twelve years, and this is the largest add week I’ve ever had and it’s the first time I’ve had the most added song on my first week,” McCreery exclaimed. “Thank you country radio for all your support both now and through the years, and thanks to the Triple Tigers promotion team. I’ll be drinking cab in a solo tonight!”

First Time Hearing “Cab In A Solo” On Country Radio

Although McCreery has previously found success at Country radio, he expresses gratitude each time he returns to the airwaves. On release day, McCreery was driving in his car when he heard his new song on the radio for the first time and admitted that hearing himself on the radio never “gets old.”

“Hearing my song for the first time on the radio never gets old! Thanks for playing it @98wsix@iheartcountry,” McCreery captioned the clip.

Co-written by The North Carolina native alongside Brent Anderson and Frank Rogers, the tune came to fruition during a writing retreat in his home state.

“I brought several of my writer buddies to the mountains of North Carolina for a few days to write songs, and that’s where ‘Cab in a Solo’ was born,” McCreery recalled in a press release. “This song is pure country. I’m excited to share it with everyone.”

Heartbreak Anthem

The track is a heartbreak anthem that tells the story of a man who witnesses his ex moving on with someone new after a failed attempt to win her over once again.

“Sittin’ here, I can’t believe what I just saw / Couple shadows kissin’ on the bedroom wall / It’s lookin’ like my plan didn’t work out at all / Heartbreak turned into broke up / So now I’m findin’ out how a heartbreak taste / With a Silver Oak, 1998 / Drinkin’ cab in a solo / Solo in the cab of my truck,” he sings on the chorus.

“Cab In A Solo” comes after McCreery’s six consecutive hits, which include “It Matters To Her,” “Damn Strait,” “You Time,” “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It” and “In Between.”

New Album On The Way

McCreery’s upcoming new album will continue to showcase his love for traditional country music.

“It’s Country. Our steel guitar player, Mike Johnson, got in the studio with us, and he’s like, ‘Man, I actually get to play Country music this week!’ He was lovin’ it, and I love singing that stuff, so hopefully folks are ready for a good dose of country music,” he told Audacy’s Katie Neal.

While Scotty McCreery hasn’t yet shared a release date for the project, he did admit that he hopes for it to be released in early 2024.

“We’ll have a new song out on the radio here, I’d say in the next month or so,” McCreery revealed. “And then a new album early next year, is probably what I think. But we’re working hard on it, and hopefully folks enjoy it when it finally gets here.”

North Carolina Music Hall of Fame

Furthermore, Scotty McCreery will soon be honored in North Carolina when he is inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame. Betty Davis, Bill “Fatback” Curtis, Fetchin Bones, George Beverly Shea, and Loudon Wainwright III will also be inducted at the ceremony, which will take place on October 19, 2023 at the Mooresville Performing Arts Center in Mooresville, NC.

“Anyone that knows me knows how proud I am to be from North Carolina,” McCreery said in a release. “It is an honor to be recognized by the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame and included with this great 2023 class of artists.  It’s also a bit surreal knowing I will be joining some of my musical heroes who are already in the Hall, such as Randy Travis, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Daniels, and James Taylor, as well as friends like Eric Church and Kellie Pickler. I am truly thankful.”

Touring

Scotty McCreery recently wrapped up his time on tour with Brooks & Dunn. This fall, he’s slated to headline several concerts as well as appear at a number of fairs and festivals.

Additionally, McCreery will also return to the Grand Ole Opry on September 14 to perform as part of Opry Country Classics. He will also step into the sacred Opry circle to the Opry stage on December 3 as part of Opry Country Christmas.
