Miranda Lambert compared her marriage with husband, Brendan McLoughlin to a “Hallmark movie” romance during a recent interview.
Lambert spoke with Lee Cowan for an episode of CBS Sunday Morning to promote her just-released new album, Palomino, which she shared on Friday, April 29. Filmed in her Nashville bar, Casa Rosa Nashville, the episode is set to broadcast Sunday, May 1, on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.
“It’s like some kind of Hallmark movie or something,” Lambert told Cowan. “Like this redneck from Texas meets this, like, beautiful NYPD officer on the street in New York. But it actually happened that way.”
Lambert met her now-husband, McLoughlin back in 2019 while she was appearing on Good Morning America with her band, The Pistol Annies. McLoughlin, who is from Staten Island, was working as an NYPD officer and was assigned to the South Midtown Precinct near Times Square when they met.
The couple wed the same year in private. Lambert cited her previous marriage to fellow country singer, Blake Shelton and their subsequent divorce as the reason why she wanted to keep her wedding to McLoughlin private.
“I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce,” Lambert explained in an interview with People. “I learned then that it’s not for everybody else. This is my actual life,” she added.
“With Brendan, I made it a point to keep it as private as I could for as long as I could,” she said.
Lambert shared the news that she and McLoughlin had wed via her Instagram.
“In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!,” Lambert wrote at the time. “My heart is full. Thank you, Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for…. me. ❤️ #theone,” she added.
Brendan McLoughlin Has Appeared In Several Of Miranda Lambert’s Music Videos
McLoughlin inspired the singer’s 2019 hit, “Settling Down” and also appeared in the music video for the song.
Lambert said having McLoughlin appear in the music video was “a beautiful moment” for them to share.
“It was a beautiful moment to share with my husband, and sometimes artists live in darkness, and use it for their art or whatever … but you know, you don’t have to be tortured to be good,” Lambert shared with Cowan. “Like, you can write a sad song and not have to live every sad song you ever write, you know. It’s an impossible way to live.”
She also revealed McLoughlin’s reaction to being in the clip.
“He loves it. He’s such a ham! I mean, he’s, like, white teeth, blue eyes, ding! I mean, if there’s a camera, he’ll jump in front of it. He’s just a very extroverted, outgoing person,” Lambert gushed.
McLoughlin also appeared in Lambert’s music videos for “If I Was A Cowboy” and “Tequila Does (Telemitry Remix).”
McLoughlin joined Lambert onstage at the VIP party to celebrate the grand opening of her downtown Nashville restaurant in 2021. The couple performed the song, “Summer Nights” from Grease.
Upon opening Casa Rosa, Lambert became the first female country singer to open a celebrity-owned bar/restaurant on Lower Broadway in Nashville.
The couple also often appear at Casa Rosa Nashville for “Sunday Funday,” where they are typically seen in the VIP section of the bar.
Lambert recently gushed over her husband’s well-sculpted physique, which she often shows off throughout her social media profiles, in an interview with Rolling Stone.
“I told him, ‘God gave you that amazing body. You’re beautiful. Please share with the world. Don’t be rude,’” Lambert shared. “He loves it, by the way. He’s on board and thinks it’s funny. He also works really hard at it! I’m like, “I work hard on my music, and I want people to hear it. You work hard on those abs. People need to see that, bud. I’m sorry.” I tend to take myself way too seriously sometimes. But he’s just a fun-loving, fun-hearted guy that is down for anything.”
Most recently, the married couple were seen strutting their stuff, dressed to the nines, on the 2022 CMT Music Awards red carpet.
