Kane Brown is a big Tim McGraw fan and this throwback clip proves it!
A throwback video of Brown covering McGraw’s song, “I Like It, I Love It” was shared to Instagram by Kane Brown Family, an account that is run by the “Like I Love Country Music” singer’s team on Sunday (Aug. 7).
In the video dated July 23, 2005, Brown performs the McGraw tune while wearing a white shirt, matching hat, and gray shorts.
Brown, who keeps one hand in his pocket and grips the microphone with the other, begins to smile as he nears the end of the performance.
The performance also serves as a precursor to the future. Brown sang “I Like It, I Love It” with McGraw back in 2021 at the Super Bowl LIII Tailgate Party. McGraw, who sang the first verse and chorus alone, surprised the crowd by bringing out Brown to help him finish the rest of the song.
And while Brown has engaged in a bit of friendly rivalry with the “7500 OBO” singer over who can become the fittest male artist in country music, he has nothing but praise for McGraw.
Brown recently revealed he’d like to expand his career to also pursue acting, sharing that he auditioned for the new Grease movie, which has since been canceled. In discussing where exactly he wants his career to go, he said he wants to emulate McGraw.
“I’m trying to break into the movie scene right now, spreading my wings like that and see where it takes me. I’m trying to do my Tim McGraw days,” Brown said. “I’ve done two auditions already and kinda got a call back. I like action movies, I like horror movies, but honestly I’ve never been in a movie, so I’ll get whatever I can get and we’ll see where that goes.”
In the meantime, Brown is staying busy with music.
He’s getting ready to release his third studio album, Different Man, on Sept. 9. The album features 17 songs, including duets with Blake Shelton and wife Katelyn on the title track and “Thank God,” respectively.
In addition, Brown is currently on the road touring now through Jan. 31, with stops in the U.S., Australia, Canada, and Europe, including the U.K.
