Country Icon Trisha Yearwood To Receive First-Ever June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award At 2024 CMT Music Awards

Country music icon Trisha Yearwood is set to receive the first-ever June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at the upcoming 2024 CMT Music Awards. CMT (Country Music Television) announced the news via social media on Monday, March 25.

According to a press release, the award, inspired by June Carter Cash, “recognizes an artist, duo/group or industry veteran who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to community and their fellow artists, embodying June’s spirit as a fierce advocate and initiator in paying it forward, helping others find their voice and using their platform to inspire and uplift others.”

“We are thrilled to honor the incomparable Trisha Yearwood with the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at this year’s show,” the CMT Music Awards Executive Producers shared.

The show’s producers continued, “Trisha has a unique ability to rally a community, whether that may be families in need with Habitat for Humanity, or uplifting her fellow artists and entertainers trying to carve a path in the industry. She embodies the bold strength of June, who tirelessly devoted herself to service and community, and the namesake for this award. Both multi-hyphenate trailblazers eloquently crafted a script for others to model, letting their hearts and authenticity guide their personal, professional and public lives.”

Yearwood Reacts To The Prestigious Honor

Trisha Yearwood took to social media to react to the coveted honor.

“I am humbled to be receiving the inaugural June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award at the 2024 #CMTAwards,” Yearwood shared on Instagram.

Set To Perform And Debut Brand-New Song

In addition to receiving the June Carter Cash Humanitarian Award, Trisha Yearwood will take to the CMT Music Awards stage to deliver the world premiere of her new song, “Put It In A Song.” The song marks the first release from Yearwood’s forthcoming new album, which will signify a significant milestone in her illustrious career, as it features a collection of songs that she co-wrote.

“I will also be performing something new that I co-wrote with Erin Enderlin and Jim “Moose” Brown! It’s called ‘Put it in a Song,’” Yearwood added. “I can’t wait for April 7th!”

Her appearance and performance at the CMT Music Awards will also mark her first time on the CMT stage since 2019.

Additional Information About The 2024 CMT Music Awards

Yearwood is among a star-studded list of performers during the three-hour broadcast, which will also feature performances from Kelsea Ballerini, Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Sam Hunt, Jordan Davis, NEEDTOBREATHE, and more.

Kelsea Ballerini, Cody JohnsonLainey WilsonJelly Roll, and Megan Moroney are among the most-nominated artists at the event with three nods each.

The first round of nominations for Video Of The Year includes a whopping 16 acts, ranging from rising stars to well established superstars. The Video Of The Year category includes first-time nominees Jelly Roll, Jordan Davis and Parmalee, as well as Kane Brown, who took home the honor last year for “Thank God” with his wife, Katelyn Brown, and will vie for back-to-back titles this year with Mickey Guyton for their collaboration, “Nothing Compares To You.”

The nominations also feature 14 first-time nominees, including breakthrough artists to out-of-genre superstars. Amber Riley, Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Hozier, Koe Wetzel, Stephen Wilson Jr., Tyler Childers, Warren Zeiders, Zach Bryan, as well as four members of the 2024 CMT Next Women of Country: Anne Wilson, Ella Langley, The Castellows, and Tigirlily Gold (2x) are among those nominated for the first time.
