Touring is back in a big way, with a number of artists putting up record numbers this year. A new report from Forbes takes a look at the top-earning concert tours of 2023, and music fans won’t be surprised to learn that Taylor Swift is at the top.

Top-Earning Summer 2023 Concert Tours

With 56 shows so far, her The Eras Tour has a 2023 gross of $780 million and reported earnings of $305 million for Taylor Swift herself. She’s played to over three million fans so far and is set to resume her trek in November in Latin America before hitting Europe next year, meaning she’ll close out 2023 with even more money in her pocket.

Next up is Beyoncé, whose Renaissance World Tour recently wrapped up after 46 shows that began in Europe earlier this year and traveled to 12 countries, netting a $579 million gross with $145 million for Queen B.

The third spot on the list belongs to Ed Sheeran and his Mathematics Tour, which recently concluded at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles with a show that brought in 81,000 fans and broke the record for the most tickets the venue had sold for a one-day event. The 2023 leg of Sheeran’s tour grossed $240 million with $110 million in Sheeran’s pocket, a number boosted by the fact that he is the only person on stage during his shows.

Top-Earning Concert Tours Continued

Coldplay‘s Music of the Spheres World Tour was next, with 43 shows in 2023 for a gross of $275 million and $85 million for the band. The British band’s tour was notable for its commitment to being as eco-friendly as possible, reducing the band’s carbon footprint from show production, freight, band and crew travel and more, with the latest run producing 47% less CO2e emissions than their last stadium tour (2016-17).

P!nk’s Summer Carnival is in the fifth spot, with a gross of $300 million over 37 shows this year and $85 million in earnings. The tour began on June 7 and will wrap next year after a run of shows in New Zealand and Australia.

Harry Styles’ Love On Tour concluded in July after initially beginning in 2021, raking in a 2023 gross of $227 million and $70 million for Styles. The tour played 169 shows in total and sold over five million tickets.

In July, Elton John wrapped up his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which grossed a total of $195 million in 2023 and is currently the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. The run began in 2018 and played over 330 shows and has a total gross of $939 million.

Morgan Wallen‘s One Night at a Time World Tour is in the eight spot on Forbes’ list, grossing $190 million this year and tallying $70 million in earnings for Wallen, who donated $3 from every ticket sold to his Morgan Wallen Foundation. The tour continues through 2024 with a number of stadium stops including multi-night events.

Luke Combs is at No. 9 with his World Tour, which visited 17 countries and played 30 shows for a 2023 gross of $125 million and earnings of $55 million. Tickets went on sale in October 2022 and instantly sold out 37 of the run’s 39 dates, but fans who weren’t able to snag tickets will have another chance next year when Combs embarks on his Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old tour.

The tour began in 2022 after being postponed twice due to the pandemic, and its 2023 gross totaled out to $158 million with $55 million in earnings. The Weekend is currently in South America and will conclude his tour in Australia and New Zealand later this year.
