How Did Maren Morris Meet Ryan Hurd?
The couple initially met through songwriting circles in Nashville.
“We were both at different publishing companies, and our publishers’ job is to fill our calendars up, so they just randomly put us together on a write one day,” Maren Morris explained to People.
That 2013 writing session resulted in the song “Last Turn Home,” a track that immediately caught the attention of Tim McGraw who recorded it for his 2014 Sundown Heaven Town album.
“It was the start of a wonderful writing relationship,” Morris continued. “It’s one of my favorite songs that we’ve ever been a part of.”
They began to spend more time together and eventually wound up hanging at Music City staples like 3 Crow Bar and Red Door Saloon.
“That’s when we started making a real connection, beyond a creative partnership,” Hurd recalled to People in a separate interview.

Began Dating In 2015, Got Married In 2018
Their friendship soon turned into something more.
“We had been friends for only a couple of years, but there was always this writing chemistry in the room, and eventually, the timing of it was undeniable,” the “Girl” singer shared. “We had such a foundation built off writing so many songs over the years that we were like, ‘Why are we avoiding this?’”
Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd began dating in late 2015. Despite their budding careers and busy schedules, the couple made things work, often popping up at each other’s shows to cheer each other on.
They got engaged on July 3, 2017, while visiting Hurd’s family lake house in Michigan.
On March 24, 2018, the couple tied the knot in Nashville. They wrote their own vows and partied the night away alongside friends and family.
Ryan and Maren are parents to Hayes Andrew Hurd, born in March of 2020.

Supported Each Other
Morris and Hurd also frequently collaborated throughout their careers as well as leaned on each other through their similar career paths.
“There’s really nothing that can replace someone who knows what you’re going through,” Hurd previously told People of Morris’ impact on his career. “It’s another thing to be supportive and know why this is difficult and what it means to make an album and put your whole self into it. We have really difficult calendars and if one of us wasn’t supportive, it would be really easy to give up on that… This is a hard thing to do and it’s not glamorous. Every time I want to quit, she tells me how close I am. She does my career with me and I do mine with her. In chasing my career, I feel like it’s part hers.”
Frequent Songwriting Collaborators
Morris has served as Hurd’s muse over the years, inspiring many of his songs including, “Love In a Bar,” “Diamonds or Twine” and “To a T.”
Additionally, Hurd co-wrote several songs recorded by Morris throughout her career, including “Circles Around This Town,” “The Furthest Thing,” “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” and “What Would This World Tour?” from her latest album, Humble Quest.’Additionally, Hurd co-wrote several songs recorded by Morris throughout her career, including “Circles Around This Town,” “The Furthest Thing,” “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” and “What Would This World Tour?” from her latest album, Humble Quest.
