Chris Stapleton has shared another song from his upcoming album, Higher, this time releasing the romantic track “It Takes A Woman.” Seemingly a tribute to Stapleton’s wife, Morgane Stapleton, “It Takes A Woman” was written by Stapleton with Ronnie Bowman and Jerry Salley. The song is actually around 10 years old and was never officially released but has become a fan favorite, and Stapleton is including a recording of the soulful love song on Higher.
Tribute To His Wife Morgane Stapleton
The ballad is backed by a waltz-like beat as Stapleton sings about a love that helps him feel like the best version of himself. Appropriately, Morgane joins him to provide harmonies, their voices intertwining to create a gorgeous and heartfelt message.
“It takes a woman / A woman who sees / The best part of me / Through all that I am,” Stapleton sings on the track’s chorus. “It takes a woman / Oh, it takes a woman / To be all I can / To feel like a man / It takes a woman / Oh, to be all I can / To feel like a man / It takes a woman.”
New Album, Higher
“It Takes A Woman” is the third song Stapleton has released from Higher, which will arrive in full on November 10. Stapleton previously shared “I Think I’m In Love With You” and lead single “White Horse,” which is currently in the Top 20 at country radio. Stapleton has also performed some of Higher‘s songs live including album closer “Mountains Of My Mind.”
Higher was produced by Stapleton, Morgane and Dave Cobb and recorded at Nashville’s RCA Studio A.
Recently Postponed Three Concerts
Stapleton is currently on the road on his All-American Road Show tour, though he had to postpone three concerts earlier this month due to illness, which affected shows in Corpus Christi, Houston, and Lafayette.
“To all my friends in Corpus Christi, Houston, and Lafayette, I am very sorry to let you all know that I am unable to perform this weekend’s shows,” Stapleton wrote in a message on social media on October 11. ”I have bronchitis and laryngitis, and on doctor’s orders [I] am on vocal rest through the weekend in order to heal.”
He concluded, “I’m grateful for your patience and understanding, and hope to see you all in November.”
All-American Road Show, Tour With George Strait
The All-American Road Show tour is scheduled to resume on October 19 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio and wrap its original run with two shows in Dallas on October 27 and 28. The postponed shows from earlier this month have been rescheduled for November, shortly after the release of Higher and the CMA Awards, where Stapleton is nominated for three trophies including Entertainer of the Year.
The Kentucky native already has tour dates on the books for next year, as he will continue to join George Strait on Strait’s run of stadiums, currently scheduled to conclude on December 7, 2024, in Las Vegas. Little Big Town will also appear on the stadium dates. The trek initially began this spring, and the final Las Vegas show will mark the 37th date of the run.
“I love doing these shows with George about as much as I like doing anything. There’s nothing to compare it to,” Stapleton said when the tour was first announced. “So many of his songs are in the ethos of what country music is. Playing these shows together is a great experience all the way around.”
