Scotty McCreery was honored with the CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year Award at the 2024 CMT Music Awards for his rendition of “It Matters To Her” during his CMT Stages episode.
McCreery Wins CMT Digital-First Performance of The Year Award
Unfortunately, McCreery was unable to attend the event in person to receive the award. However, prior to the show on Sunday, April 7, the North Carolina native was announced as the winner on the red carpet. CMT was able to get a hold of the country superstar virtually via Zoom to accept the honor.
“Thank you very much. Thank you, CMT, the fans. That’s what a nice little surprise! Thank you very much… Unbelievable,” McCreery said with a big smile on his face. “Thank you CMT, thank you fans.”
He then explained that he was unable to attend the 2024 CMT Awards as he was in Raleigh, North Carolina, celebrating his wife Gabi’s 30th birthday. “It’s my beautiful bride’s 30th birthday, so we’re here in Raleigh back home, just hanging out with family and friends and having a big old time for her, so it’s been a nice day,” he explained.
Reacts To Winning His Second CMT Music Award
Scotty McCreery also shared his exclusive reaction to winning the award and what it meant to him that it was fan voted.
“My fans have always supported me from the very beginning, and I appreciate them more than I can say. It’s truly because of them that I won the CMT Award this year,” McCreery told Music Mayhem, reacting to his CMT Award win. “I also really enjoy working with CMT. I worked with Melissa Goldberg and her team on the ‘CMT Stages’ episode that featured the performance that won the award. That was such a creative and fun event.”
He also issued an apology for not being able to accept the prestigious honor in person.
“I was sorry that I couldn’t be at the CMT Awards to accept it in person, but it was my wife’s 30th birthday and I couldn’t miss that. But I appreciate CMT allowing me to zoom into the Red Carpet Show to accept the Award,” McCreery continued.
He also took to social media to graciously thank his fans for their endless support. “Thanks fans for voting for me for the @CMT Digital-First Performance of the Year Award! #CMTAwards,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He previously won USA Breakthrough Video of the Year for “The Trouble With Girls” at the 2012 CMT Music Awards, which marked the first major award win for his record label, Triple Tigers.
Gearing Up To Become The Newest Member Of The Grand Ole Opry
The news comes just weeks before McCreery is set to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. He will be inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family by his musical hero, Josh Turner, on April 20.
“Still doesn’t seem real that I will become a Grand Ole Opry member in just 11 short days. I can’t wait to join the Opry family. See you on April 20th!” he shared on social media in anticipation of his Opry induction.
Garth Brooks invited McCreery to join the Grand Ole Opry family in December 2023 as part of the Opry Country Christmas Celebration.
The country hitmaker previously told Music Mayhem that becoming an Opry member was “definitely at the top of my list, as far as goals. So if you love country music and tradition, the Grand Ole Opry is right there, in the middle of that. It would be a great honor, but you know. It’s on the dream board.”
Additionally, McCreery, a Triple Tigers recording artist, is also gearing up to release his brand-new album, Rise & Fall, on May 10, 2024. The project will feature 13 track, 12 of which McCreery co-wrote, including his current single “Cab In A Solo,” and the already released tunes “Can’t Pass The Bar” and “Red Letter Blueprint.”
