Scotty McCreery brought his highly-anticipated Same Truck Tour to Parx Casino’s Xcite Center in Bensalem, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening (Jan. 29). The tour, which is in support of his fifth studio album, Same Truck, also featured support from Callista Clark and King Calaway.
McCreery, who won Season 10 of American Idol and has since become a fan-favorite in country music, put his signature baritone vocals on full display during his energy-filled set, which found the hitmaker performing songs from his catalog of hits in the Keystone State.
The near capacity crowd welcomed the country superstar to the stage with a roaring applause. He kicked off his set with “Same Truck,” the title track to his album and tour. “This is so much better than hopping on Zoom and doing a concert on Zoom. Good to see y’all in person,” McCreery told the crowd with enthusiasm.
“This has been a fun ride, we got started in 2011… over a decade ago, which is crazy,” McCreery recalled. “Awesome to be able to do this for a living… It never gets old. I remember it wasn’t that long ago, I was that kid out there in the crowd watching these shows and just kind of dreaming that one day that’ll all come true.”
The North Carolina native’s concert was the perfect showcase of his latest project, Same Truck, as he performed nearly every track from the album. His 19-song set also included his latest single, “Damn Strait,” covers of John Michael Montgomery’s “Be My Baby Tonight” and Brooks & Dunn’s “She’s Not The Cheatin’ Kind,” as well as his four consecutive chart-topping hits, “Five More Minutes,” “This Is It,” “In Between” and his most recent, “You Time.”
Throughout the show, McCreery also honored his wife, Gabi, with tribute performances of songs that he penned with her in mind, including “Home,” “It Matters To Her,” and “You Time,” among others.
The “Damn Strait” singer delivered a confident performance that proved his star power and showcased his growth as an entertainer.
Callista Clark served as direct support for McCreery and powered through her performance with her charming personality and captivating stage presence. Her brief set featured her current single, “It’s ‘Cause I Am” as well as several fan-favorites, including “Heartbreak Song” and “Real To Me.” Clark also treated fans to a soulful cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Chain Of Fools.”
The 18-year-old Georgia native and fast rising country singer wowed the audience with her relatable lyrics and guitar-driven melodies, further proving she has what it takes to become the next country superstar.
King Calaway, comprised of Chris Deaton, Simon Dumas, Chad Michael Jervis, and Caleb Miller, opened the show with a stripped-down performance that introduced fans to their unique brand of country music. Fans were singing along to their latest release, “Good Time To Me,” which originally features guest vocals from Lainey Wilson.
McCreery’s Same Truck Tour continues through the end of February 2022, with support from Callista Clark, King Calaway, Kameron Marlowe, and Tenille Arts on select dates.
