Country music singer-songwriter Morgan Wallen has hit a major career milestone with his record-breaking sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album.

Since Dangerous’ release on Jan. 8, 2021, the East Tennessee native has seen great success with the 30-track album.

The critically acclaimed project has gone on to earn several coveted award show nominations, including CMA Album Of The Year amongst others. The double album also became the most popular album in the U.S., according to MRC Data.

In addition to becoming the most popular album in the United States, Dangerous also closed out 2021 as the best-selling album of any genre. Wallen’s project outranked Olivia Rodrigo’s SOUR, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, and more. When Wallen’s double album finished out the year as the best-selling album of any genre, the “Wasted On You” singer became the first country artist to close out the year with the best-selling album in any genre since Taylor Swift’s seminal album, Fearless, in 2009.

Now in just over a year since its release, the project has spent 54 nonconsecutive weeks in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 charts, marking the second most of any country album in history. Dangerous: The Double Album ties the record held by Randy Travis’ Always & Forever, as the album with the 2nd most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart, since the chart’s creation in 1964.

Ahead of Wallen and Travis are Shania Twain and Luke Combs, who are tied at No. 1 with 50 weeks on the chart.

Last year, Wallen took to social media to share his gratitude after receiving the news that the project had become the best-selling album of 2021.

“Thank you to everyone who played a part in the creation and execution of this album. My entire team stepped up and continues to step up daily for me and for each other. I am honored to work beside you. You all know who you are. Thank you to my fans for supporting and believing in me. This couldn’t have been accomplished without God’s grace and without a common love for the country music I’ve been so blessed to be able to make. I love y’all,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.

In late December 2021, Wallen dropped his first release since Dangerous, “Broadway Girls,” a duet he recorded with rapper Lil Durk. This track spiked in popularity as it topped Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

During the recent MLK Freedom Fest at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, Wallen join Lil Durk on stage to perform the new single for the first time ever. While on stage with the GRAMMY-nominated rapper, Lil Durk labeled Wallen as someone who was “genuine at heart.”

Wallen was also featured on fellow country music singer/songwriter ERNEST’s heartbreak single, “Flower Shops,” which they performed together during ERNEST’s debut at the Grand Ole Opry.

In just a few days, on Thursday (Feb. 3), Wallen will kick off his eight-month, 46+ city arena tour, dubbed The Dangerous Tour, in Evansville, IN, with special guests HARDY and Larry Fleet. See a full list of tour dates.
