Dolly Parton, Eminem, Judas Priest & More Among 2022 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame revealed the 2022 list of nominees for induction!

On Wednesday morning (Feb. 2), Greg Harris, the President and CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, announced the star-studded list of nominees, live from Cleveland via Twitter.

“Hello Rock and Roll fans, I’m inside the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame gallery to announce the 2022 nominees for induction,” Harris said. “These 17 artists have had a massive impact on the music we all love, and we celebrate each day inside this museum.”

The nominees are: Beck, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, Devo, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Judas Priest, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Dolly Parton, Rage Against The Machine, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, A Tribe Called Quest, and Dionne Warwick.

Several of the nominees are first-timers, including Beck, Eminem, Parton, Duran Duran, Richie and A Tribe Called Quest.

“This year’s ballot recognizes a diverse group of incredible artists, each who has had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. “Their music not only moved generations, but also influenced the sound of countless artists that followed.”

“Any fan will find artists in this list that they love,” Harris told WKYZ of the new nominees. “Any five or six of these being elected will be a great class, and we’re so thrilled to have this ballad. This class truly represents the broad diversity of Rock and Roll. We have a number of international artists on the list. We also have the second-largest group for gender parody, the most female nominees next to last year. There’s hard rock, there’s metal, singer/songwriters, there’s hip-hop, there’s new wave, it’s all here. We’re really thrilled.”

How are the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame nominees chosen?

Eligibility for a nomination requires an individual artist or band to have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of their nomination.

“Nominee ballots are sent to an international voting body of more than 1,000 artists, historian, and members of the music industry,” Rock Hall officials explained to the outlet. “Factors such as an artist’s musical influence on other artists, length and depth of career and the body of work, innovation and superiority in style and technique are taken into consideration.”

When will the inductees be announced?

The new inductees will be announced in May and honored at the 2022 Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony later this year.
