Country music star Scotty McCreery is still on cloud nine with his wife, Gabi Dugal McCreery.
During a recent interview with PEOPLE, the award-winning artist gushed over his wife and mentioned that the two are beginning to have the life-changing conversation about starting a family together.
“She’s tremendous,” says McCreery about his first lady. “She’s the biggest part of my life. We’ve been together nine years now and married for three. She’s our family’s rock,” he adds.
According to PEOPLE, the word “family” simply slipped out of his mouth when he referred to his wife and fluffy son, Moose. However, the singer did not hesitate to open up about the baby talk that is currently underway in his household.
“We’re three years into this,” shares the artist. “When we got started in the marriage, we told each other we wanted to live life. We wanted to go travel. We wanted to go-do things. And I would say we have done that at this point. So, it’s definitely a conversation that’s being had!”
If music-goers listen closely to McCreery’s lyrics, they would quickly notice that Gabi is the inspiration behind several of his top-charting ballads. For instance, fans can hear their love story in songs “Why You Gotta Be Like That” and steamy single “That Kind of Fire.”
The romantic singles are two out of the twelve tracks on his recently released record, Same Truck. The 27-year-old hitmaker dropped his heartfelt collection on September 17. The American Idol alum penned his fifth studio album alongside Ashley Gorley, Rhett Akins, and Monty Criswell.
Before the Coronavirus pandemic forced the world to shut down, McCreery had half of the record completed. However, honing in on his craft and the project during quarantine allowed the artist to focus on making the songs strong enough to follow his 2018 album, Seasons Change.
Yall have been asking for new music and even went searching for it and discovered my new record was coming before we could announce it. I’m fired up to share that ‘Same Truck’ is OUT NOW! 🛻https://t.co/CPH4QpOWsX pic.twitter.com/y9mlgbkIs9

“We had a lot of an album ready to go before the pandemic and, if I’m honest, I didn’t feel I was writing my best stuff – I didn’t think I had a ‘Five More Minutes‘ or a ‘This Is It‘ here,” McCreery told Billboard about the No.1 songs from Seasons Change. “A silver lining over last year is that I had that extra time to pick up a guitar and write songs. There were a lot of Zoom writes. We had a couple of songs we wrote before that made the record, but most of this world be from the last year and a half.”
Same Truck also includes his latest chart-topping hit, “You Time,” which was inspired by not spending enough quality time with Gabi. In fact, he told Everything Nash that he penned the moving track when he was busy out on the road before the Pandemic hit. “It was really a time when she was super, super busy at work,” says McCreery.
“I was just on the road constantly. I’d come home from the road, and she’d be going out to work, and we’d just be passing each other all the time” McCreery continued. “So, it was at a moment where I was really craving some you time. Like, we can see our friends later. We’ll see the family later, but right now just needs to be your time,” says McCreery about the inspiration behind the heartfelt lyrics.
After spending downtime with Gabi during quarantine, the star is now enjoying the success of his latest album and connecting with fans on his You Time Tour. Tickets are currently available for purchase here.
