Morgan Wallen unveiled that he will be releasing a brand-new song on Good Friday!

The East Tennessee native and country superstar took to TikTok on Tuesday evening (Apr. 5) to reveal that he will officially be releasing his previously teased new song, “Don’t Think Jesus.”

“Good Friday,” Wallen simply captioned an audio work tape of the new tune on TikTok.

The track, which written by Chase McGill, Jessi Alexander and Mark Holman with Wallen in mind, brought the country superstar to tears when he first heard it in his truck. The emotion-filled song tells the story of a boy chasing whiskey and women while living life in the fast lane until he just couldn’t anymore.

“A boy gets a guitar and starts writing songs / about whiskey and women and getting too stoned / he got all three at the first show he played / hometown said ‘I don’t think Jesus done it that way,’” Wallen begins to sing on the track.

Wallen then belts out the chorus singing, “If I was him I’d say to hell with you / ain’t no helping you / find someone else to give Heaven to / I’m telling you / I’d shame me, I’d blame me / I’d make me pay for my mistakes / oh, but I don’t think Jesus does it that way.”

Morgan Wallen Previously Teased The New Song In Fall of 2021

Wallen first shared the song with fans on social media in October 2021, when he released a live acoustic performance of tune, which was written by a few of songwriter friends and has amassed over 6.3 million views since he teased it.

“Some of my friends sent me a song today, I was on the way back home from playing a little golf,” Wallen said at the time. “They wrote this song with me in on their mind and made me cry in the truck.”

After introducing the song at the time with a brief summary of how the song brought him to tears on the way home from a golf outing, Wallen, wearing a black shirt and a camouflage hat, strummed his acoustic guitar while singing the emotion-filled new song.

Morgan Wallen Recently Donated $25,000 To Tennessee Wildfire Relief Efforts

The “Wasted On You” singer recently made headlines when he donated $25,000 to Tennessee wildfire relief efforts.

Wallen and his More Than My Hometown Foundation recently donated $25,000 to Greater Good Music to assist in wildfire disaster relief efforts. The donation provided hot meals for relief workers, mobile food pantries, clothing, and supplies for the communities in the fire zone near his hometown.

“We are so grateful to Morgan for helping us provide hot meals to firefighters and first responders in the fire zone, as well as assist families that have been displaced and in need of food, clothing, and supplies in the coming days,” said Sheila Jones, executive director of Greater Good Music.

He also recently raised $120,000 for his More Than My Hometown Foundation. The money, which was raised for his foundation via his three consecutive sold-out concerts in Nashville, will be put into initiatives for adolescent development, resources and local communities.

Founded by Wallen in 2021, the More Than My Hometown Foundation came about from his own family’s experience.

“Since my parents fostered and now officially adopted my sister Lacey, I’ve witnessed what love and care can do for a child that didn’t have it before. She has transformed into a confident, trusting and happy kid,” Wallen shared. “There are many elements that aid in the development and protection of an adolescent’s life, and that is why I created the foundation, so a child’s resources are not limited due to their circumstances.”

In addition to HARDY and Larry Fleet, the country hitmaker recently added Lainey Wilson, Kameron Marlowe, Chase Rice, Ian Munsick, and ERNEST to his sold-out tour lineup.

The singer recently announced his first-ever Stadium show in Arlington, Texas, at Globe Life Field on October 8, 2022, with special guests HARDY, Mike Ryan and Jake Worthington.
