Luke Bryan returned to the stage and provided an update with fans regarding his vocal condition on Thursday evening (Aug. 17) at the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, as part of his headlining Country On Tour.
On Thursday evening (Aug. 17), the country superstar stepped back onto the stage in The Buckeye State and in the midst of his headlining performance he shared an update with fans about the current state of his vocals, according to several videos shared to social media.
Issues Update On Vocal Condition
“Finally my voice is back- I’m not 100%…” Bryan told the crowd, acknowledging the recent illness that forced him to cancel and/or postpone several concerts.
“Over the past couple of weeks I’ve lost a tremendous amount of money. I’m gonna need y’all to buy a couple extra t-shirts tonight,” he joked. “We’re gonna do a live auction – who wants to go hunting with me?” His comedic comments sent fans into a frenzy and the crowd erupted into a roaring applause.
“Just kidding,” Bryan continued. “Never in my career have I ever had to cancel a show, much less four, but man you really learn there are some a**holes out there.”
He went on to poke fun at one Twitter user who criticized him for the concert cancelations. Luke Bryan then laughed, saying that he might have to confront the individual if they ever crossed paths and “whip” their butt.
“But we’re not gonna focus on one asshole,” Luke Bryan added. “I want to thank all the fans that have my back and supported me… Thank y’all so much!”
Showcased Gratitude For His Fans
The Georgia native later took to social media to graciously thank his fans for the well-wishes and prayers. He also gushed over his return to the stage in Cincinnati.
“Show was great tonight. Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes. Sorry for the inconveniences to my fan[s] the last few weeks. Love y’all,” Bryan wrote on social media.
Canceled Mississippi Concert, Powered Through Illness In Nashville
The country superstar made his way back to the spotlight after being forced to call off his performance in Brandon, Mississippi on August 13.
Just a day before, on August 12, he powered through his vocal troubles and illness, delivering a memorable show in Nashville that played out to a capacity crowd. At one point during the show, Bryan transformed his high-energy performance into an acoustic interlude, affording his vocals a brief respite.
“I was not going to cancel Nashville under any circumstance,” he told the crowd in Music City.
“Southern And Slow”
The country hitmaker released his new song, “Southern and Slow,” co-written by Matt Dragstrem, Josh Thompson and Chase McGill and co-produced by Jeff Stevens and Jody Stevens.
It’s the third song released from Bryan’s yet-to-be-announced album and finds the country superstar reflecting upon the “simple times.”
“Those picture-perfect moments like the sun setting behind a water tower, honey dripping off a spoon, well, it doesn’t get much country’er than that. Let’s slow it down southern style because this life seems to be moving faster than ever.”
“I need slow and southern like a Sunday/ Like muddy water rollin’ by a riverbank/ Like some sleepy little town, down with the moon/ Livin’ like honey drippin’ off a spoon/ Like the sun that takes an hour to get behind the water tower/ ‘Bout the speed of watchin’ wildflowers grow/ Ain’t but two ways this old boy’s gonna go/ Slow and southern, southern and slow,” he sings on the track’s chorus.
“But I Got A Beer In My Hand”
Bryan’s latest single, “But I Got A Beer In My Hand,” is climbing the charts at country radio now.
He recently brought the feel-good summer anthem to life with the release of a music video for the song.
The clip features the five-time Entertainer of the Year shaking off a breakup at a barn party where the drinks are flowing, and good times are being had.
