The moment has finally come! Multi-platinum artist Sara Evans will officially become a member of the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, October 7 as part of the legendary venue’s 98th birthday weekend.
In the past 20 years, Evans has been one of the top five most-played female artists at country radio, with five number one singles: “No Place That Far,” “Suds In The Bucket, “A Real Fine Place To Start,” “Born to Fly” and “A Little Bit Stronger.”
Award-Winning Superstar
Because of her musical success, the talented singer-songwriter has been nominated for numerous ACM Awards, CMA Awards, CMT Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, GRAMMY Awards and more. Some of her most notable recognition includes taking home the ACM Award for Top Female Vocalist in 2005, as well as the CMA award for Video of the Year in 2001.
Given all of the accolades she has received over the years, the Boonville, Missouri native’s Grand Ole Opry membership is extremely well deserved (and long overdue).
Last night (August 17), Sara Evans performed a sold-out show at the renowned Ryman Auditorium to celebrate the release of Restless (Deluxe), her most recent project that commemorates the 20th anniversary of her beloved album, Restless.
After Evans brought out Carly Pearce to perform a duet of her smash hit “Suds In The Bucket,” Pearce invited Lady A to the stage to award multi-talented performer with a platinum plaque, followed by the exciting news.
Bill Anderson Surprised Sara Evans With Invitation Of A Lifetime
The Grand Ole Opry’s longest-serving member, Bill Anderson, took the stage alongside Carly Pearce and Lady A to invite Evans to be a become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
“I’ve been waiting to be asked to join the Opry for a long time, and it’s always been a dream of mine, and I’m so honored that you’re here to ask me that question. Thank you, it means everything to me… God is good,” she replied.
After the Grand Ole Opry posted the thrilling news on Instagram, some of today’s biggest country artists showed their support for Evans in the comment section, including Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town, Kristian Bush of Sugarland, Restless Road and more.
Everyone is pleased to see that she is getting the praise she deserves after all of these years.
“Thankful And Overwhelmed”
The Grand Ole Opry Executive Producer, Dan Rogers shared, “I remember clearly watching Sara’s Opry debut live on television before I ever made the move to Nashville. Like nearly anyone about to take that stage for the first time, she was both thankful and overwhelmed, and she said in an interview minutes before her performance that to help with her jitters, she was going to pretend to be Patsy Cline. Watching as a fan at home, I thought that was a pretty incredible approach.”
“More than 25 years later, I think she was once again tonight both thankful and overwhelmed. All of us at the Opry have appreciated her great performances every time she’s visited us and look forward to celebrating official Opry membership with her during what is going to be a great October Opry birthday weekend,” he continued.
We could not be more excited for Sara Evans, and it is safe to say we will be counting down the days until October 7.
