After earning his fifth consecutive No. 1 with “Damn Strait,” Scotty McCreery has officially released his brand-new single, “It Matters To Her,” to Country radio on Monday (Sept. 12).

The country superstar took to social media to reveal the exciting news with fans as the tune impacted radio airwaves.

“Y’all, my new single ‘It Matters to Her’ is out now at Country radio!!” McCreery shared. ”I wrote this song with Rhett Akins and Lee Thomas Miller because after four years of marriage to Gabi, I’ve learned a few things. This song sums up some of those lessons! Hope you enjoy!“

On the chorus of the heartfelt tune, McCreery sings: “When you think she don’t see / When you think she don’t care / When you think she don’t notice / What you’re doing there / Every little look / Every single word / Oh, it matters to her.”

During a recent media event, McCreery also shared that he really connected with the tune.

“I’m a lyric guy,” McCreery said during the event. “I’m a story guy, a message guy. And this story was just us sitting back, talking one day, me and Rhett [Akins] and LeeThomas Miller and just being like, ‘Man, you know what I’m learning? It’s just the littlest things. Like if I go downstairs and just empty the dishwasher, and she doesn’t have to tell me to stop watching golf and go do it, it’s a little thing, but it adds up over time. And I’m learning as a young husband, that’s what adds up and makes the difference.’ And I can still work on it. Like, I still shave and leave my beard hair in the sink. And she yells from downstairs like, ‘What the heck?’ But, it’s a cool song to sing.”

While McCreery shared that the song was influenced by lessons he learned during four years of marriage to his pregnant wife Gabi, he previously opened up about the tune during an interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal, sharing that the track was also partially inspired by his love for Brooks & Dunn’s music.

“The coolest one for me is our next single ‘It Matters To Her,’ which if you listen to it, speaking of Brooks & Dunn, it definitely has that inspiration to it and how could you not when I grew up listening to all their albums,” McCreery explained. ”This is the [song] where you start playing it and you see the crowd start trying to sing along like they already knew it, but then they realize like ‘oh, I don’t know this song.’”

“It Matters To Her” will serve as the third single from McCreery’s latest album, Same Truck, following his chart-topping hits, “You Time” and “Damn Strait.”

It’s an exciting time for McCreery as he not only has a new single impacting Country radio, but he is also expecting his first child.

In June of 2022, the country hitmaker and his wife revealed that they are expecting a baby boy. The couple revealed the news exclusively with PEOPLE, unveiling that their new addition will be arriving this fall, in November.

At the time, McCreery also revealed their baby’s gender with the outlet. “We got a little man on the way,” the North Carolina native said with a smile.

“I was the only boy on both sides of my family, the last McCreery boy out there,” McCreery told the outlet. “Gabi’s from two sisters in her family, so I just figured it would be a girl. But we got a surprise of a boy.”

During a recent episode (Jun. 24) of The Music Universe podcast with Buddy Iahn, McCreery talked about how excited he and his wife are to welcome their new bundle of joy.

“It’s been exciting times in the McCreery household,” the “Damn Strait” singer told Iahn. “We’re glad the cat’s finally out of the bag. We’re super excited… Very exciting. It’s been tough to keep it a secret for a while. Now we don’t have to hide anything, and we can share it with everybody,” he added.

While McCreery awaits the arrival of his son, he will continue to tour through the fall with his next scheduled tour date being September 16 at Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York.
