Kelsea Ballerini filled-in for Kelly Clarkson during Battle Rounds on The Voice, as Clarkson was sick with a “sinus infection.”
During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ballerini told Clarkson that she was able to keep the rivalry between her and Blake Shelton alive and going strong during her time filling-in for Clarkson on The Voice.
“The one thing you asked me was to keep the rivalry with Blake [Shelton] and so I really took that to heart,” Ballerini said. “The talents really great, the choices were really hard but we talked about it and Blake probably hates me.”
“Oh my God, I was so excited about the dad thing, I can’t even tell you,” Clarkson gushed. “I was like ‘oh my God, she’s my favorite.’”
The superstar’s also discussed if Clarkson’s fellow The Voice coaches: Shelton, John Legend and Nick Jonas took advantage of her absence during Battle Rounds. Which Ballerini revealed that they actually love her although they refuse to acknowledge that Clarkson was actually out sick and not just on vacation as she was in need of a break.
“Their biggest thing was they refused to admit that you didn’t feel good, they were like she’s on a beach. she needed a break. She has like eighteen jobs. She wanted a tan, she’s gone,” Ballerini explained. “I was like I’m sure she’d rather be doing that than being sick but other than that they love you. They really love you, they didn’t talk any crap at all.”
“I bet that all came from Shelton too,” Clarkson replied. “I was not on vacation, I was in hell with a sinus infection.”
