Kelsea Ballerini is temporarily taking over Kelly Clarkson’s coaching duties on The Voice as Clarkson is not feeling well.
Ahead of the show, The Voice shared a clip on Instagram, which started with a ringing phone to Clarkson’s female friend, who fans presumed to be Gwen Stefani. However, that was not the case, as it was actually two-time Grammy-nominated singer, Kelsea Ballerini.
In the video Clarkson told Ballerini, “Hello, thank you so much for doing this for me.”
“Unfortunately, our own Kelly Clarkson was not feeling well this week,” host Carson Daly explained in the clip. “Kelly’s staying at home and she’s watching the battles remotely.”

Following the big reveal, Ballerini took to Twitter to share her excitement.
“When Kelly Clarkson calls and asks you to keep her seat warm, you put all those years of being her super fan to work. Thank you John Legend, Nick Jonas and ole pops Blake Shelton for making me feel like part of the NBC’s The Voice family,” Ballerini said. “I’m forever #TeamKelly… see y’all at the battle rounds.”
