Kellin Quinn’s solo project Downer Inc shared a cover of Coldplay’s single “Yellow” on Monday (Dec. 14).
In the breathtaking cover of the popular track, Quinn allows his truly unique, one-of-a-kind vocals to be put on full display, giving the track a refreshing new life.
“I always enjoy taking a song I love and making it my own,” Quinn shared exclusively with Music Mayhem. “‘Yellow’ has been at the top of my list and since I’m doing nothing but sitting in a square for the foreseeable future, I figured why not release something that people can vibe to…”
Quinn worked alongside Loveless’ Julian Comeau, who produced the track for Downer Inc. Comeau’s band Loveless recently released a reimagined version of the classic holiday track “Last Christmas,” which also features Downer Inc.
“Yellow” is a song from Coldplay’s 2000 debut album, Parachutes.
Downer Inc recently released their 6-track debut EP, Whatever This Is, which features the lead single “Generation Z.”
“After a month of sitting home.. wondering what to do with myself.. I decided to put my hopelessness.. my fears… into a musical diary of sorts,” Quinn previously explained of new EP.
The side project also features Cameron Mizell, the producer behind Sleeping with Sirens debut album, With Ears To See And Eyes To Hear, and their album, Feel.
Additionally, Quinn shared that “more Downer Inc tracks are to come.”
