Congratulations are in order for Jon Pardi, 37, and his wife of nearly two years, Summer Pardi (Duncan), 32. The adorable couple recently announced they’re expecting their first child together.

The parents-to-be opened up about going from a “Parti of two” to a “Parti of three” in a new interview with PEOPLE. During the conversation, they did not disclose their impending baby’s gender, but they did share the little one’s due date will be in early 2023.

“I’m ready to start a new adventure with my wonderful wife Summer and our new little one — Pardi of three!” Jon told the outlet, adding that he’s thrilled to get it on some fun activities with his future child. “I’m really excited to meet our baby and to have someone to ride around the ranch with.”

Jon and Summer will mark their second wedding anniversary on November 21, 2022. They wed in an intimate ceremony at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Since tying the knot, the North Carolina-born couple have tried to conceive but had no luck until now. So getting to finally celebrate their baby announcement with the world has them feeling even more grateful.

“It still doesn’t feel real to us …. it’s been five years of dreaming of what it would be like if we were lucky enough to be blessed with a baby, and now we get to live that dream,” Summer shared. “It was definitely an interesting two years of ups and downs — the constant letdown month after month can really be hard on a couple. After years of no luck and meeting with doctors who just didn’t feel like the right fit, we decided to take a break, leave it in God’s hands and just enjoy each other and this crazy, fun life we live together … and then surprise, we’re pregnant!”

“I think stress has a huge part in it,” the hairstylist, who said being pregnant has “felt great — a little bit tired, but overall really good,” continued. “You hear so many stories like ours of ‘the moment you stop trying, it’ll happen,’ but when you’re in that situation, it’s really, really hard not to try or not think about it. It’s just one of those crazy things in life that don’t make sense, and there’s no right or wrong answer. I feel for all of the couples out there who have been through this and especially those who are still in the thick of it.”

Expanding their family is sure to keep the Pardi’s working the “Night Shift,” as they are already parents to a whole host of pets they affectionately call their “Parti Animals.” Together Jon and Summer own various dogs, cats, goats, and cows. But, all that extra play time won’t be too hard on Jon, as his wife calls him a “big kid at heart.”

“He’s such a big kid at heart,” she says. “Always the life of the party and has such positive energy, so I can only imagine how much fun this little Pardi addition will be for him and our family. I know [being parents] is going to be the greatest gift in the world.”

And Jon is used to keeping busy. The country superstar recently released his Mr. Saturday Night album. He is also on the road playing shows for his Ain’t Always the Cowboy tour. The trek, which features Lainey Wilson and Hailey Whitters, goes through Oct. 1.
