Jason Aldean returned to the 2024 CMT Music Awards for a performance of “Let Your Boys Be Country” on Sunday, April 7. His appearance on the show follows CMT’s decision to remove his controversial “Try That In A Small Town” music video from the network’s rotation last year.

Live from the outdoors stage in Downtown Austin, the country superstar delivered an energy-filled performance of his current single surrounded by his longtime band.

“Let Your Boys Be Country”

Co-written by Jaron Boyer, Allison Veltz Cruz, and Micah Wilshire, “Let Your Boys Be Country” finds Aldean urging mothers to allow their sons to proudly embrace the country lifestyle, should they choose to do so.

“Let ’em ride ’round in trucks, making back road noise/ Let ’em hang out on Friday, getting wild with the boys/ Let ’em go to the woods in the cold painted up camo green/ Yeah, let ’em chase, lеt ’em fall for a small-town girl/ Let evеrything inside these county lines be his whole world/ You want him to grow up to be someone he’s damn proud to be/ Mommas, let your boys be country,” Aldean sings on the tune’s chorus.

“Let Your Boys Be Country” appears on Jason Aldean’s latest album, Highway Desperado, which arrived on November 3 via BBR Music Group.

The project features 14 tracks, including his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, “Try That In A Small Town,” which has amassed hundreds of millions of Global streams to date. The project also includes “Tough Crowd,” a song that serves as a tribute to the Aldean Army, as well as “Highway Desperado,” and more.
