Jason Aldean shared a brand-new song, “Let Your Boys Be Country,” and announced his 11th studio album, Highway Desperado.
The reigning ACM Artist of the Decade took to social media on Friday (Aug. 25) to surprise fans with the exciting news that he dropped a new song as well as share details of his forthcoming new album.
“New album ‘Highway Desperado’ coming at y’all November 3rd. Preorder and listen to my newest song “Let Your Boys Be Country” now,” Aldean wrote.
Co-written by Jaron Boyer, Allison Veltz Cruz, and Micah Wilshire, “Let Your Boys Be Country” finds Aldean urging mothers to allow their sons to proudly embrace the country lifestyle, should they choose to do so.
“Let ’em ride ’round in trucks, making backroad noise/ Let ’em hang out on Friday, getting wild with the boys/ Let ’em go to the woods in the cold painted up camo green/ Yeah, let ’em chase, lеt ’em fall for a small-town girl/ Let evеrything inside these county lines be his whole world/ You want him to grow up to be someone he’s damn proud to be/ Mommas, let your boys be country,” Aldean sings on the tune’s chorus.

11th Studio Album, Highway Desperado
Produced by Michael Knox and arriving on November 3 via BBR Music Group, Highway Desperado will feature 14 tracks, including his first-ever Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, “Try That In A Small Town,” which has amassed over 120 Global streams to date. The project will also include “Tough Crowd,” a song that serves as a tribute to the Aldean Army, as well as the just released “Let Your Boys Be Country,” among others.
Jason Aldean shared the inspiration for the album’s title came from his latest sold-out headlining arena tour, as well as his early days as an artist.
“I think when I look back on it, I built my career early on my live show, and have been on the road touring since I was 18 years old. For us, touring is our favorite part. Getting on the bus and going town to town and playing our shows and doing our thing and seeing the fans… the title for the tour and album was really inspired from that,” Aldean shared.
New Album Marks A Significant Milestone For Jason Aldean
Aldean’s new album will also feature songs that he co-wrote, marking a significant milestone for the Georgia native as songwriting is a creative endeavor that he hasn’t pursued in over a decade. The country superstar had a hand in penning three tracks on the upcoming project, including “Hungover In A Hotel,” “Breakup Breakdown” and the project’s title track, “Highway Desperado.”
Jason Aldean’s involvement in songwriting is a rarity, considering he’s only had involvement in writing four tracks out of all the 10 studio albums he has released to date.
The last time Jason Aldean appeared as a cowriter on one of his albums was in 2009, when he co-wrote “Keep The Girl,” a track that appears on his third studio album, Wide Open. Prior to “Keep The Girl,” the country hitmaker co-wrote three songs (“Even If I Wanted To,” “You’re the Love I Wanna Be In” and “She Loved Me”) on his major label debut in 2005.
Despite not having co-written any songs on his albums since 2009, the 46-year-old father of four confessed that his infrequent songwriting can be attributed to him being a “perfectionist.” While Jason Aldean may not write his own music, he certainly knows how to pick the right songs to cut as 27 of the 39 songs he’s released have gone No. 1.
Follows Double Album, MACON, GEORGIA
Highway Desperado follows his double album, MACON, GEORGIA, a project that spawned several chart-topping hits for Aldean such as “If I Didn’t Love You (feat. Carrie Underwood)” and more.
