After just 23-weeks at Country Radio, Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson’s “Never Say Never” is officially a No. 1 hit!
The country superstar and ACM New Female Artist Of The Year’s powerhouse duet, “Never Say Never,” is officially the No. 1 song in the country on both the Mediabase and Billboard Country Airplay charts. The fiery duet is the follow-up to Swindell’s multi-week No. 1 “Single Saturday Night,” marking two back-to-back No. 1 hits from his just-released fourth studio album, Stereotype.
Swindell took to social media on Monday (April 25) to celebrate the achievement with a heartfelt post.
“Thank you, @laineywilsonmusic, for letting me interrupt your vacation with a song I knew could be super special if you were singing on it with me,” Swindell wrote. “Thanks to my ENTIRE team, Country Radio, all the streaming services and the fans for all the love on ‘NSN’ 🙏”
Swindell, who co-wrote the tune, then went on to praise the other songwriters on the track, Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill.
“@jessilalexander and @chasemcgillsongwriter y’all are 2 of the best songwriters/humans around and I’m so proud to share this one with y’all! Zach Crowell and all the studio musicians brought this thing to life,” Swindell added. “Officially the #1 song in the country 🤝 #NeverSayNever.”
Wilson also took to Instagram to celebrate their chart-topping hit.
“I knew this song was special the minute I heard it and I knew I had to be a part of it,” Wilson captioned her post. “I’m glad my gut feeling was right. @coleswindell, thank you for being in my corner and believing in me enough to let me be a part of your musical journey. Thank you to my team and Cole’s team for coming together busting their tail. Thank you to @jessilalexander, @chasemcgillsongwriter, and Cole for writing a song so special. Cheers to another number one song, y’all. Let’s go do it again. And again. #neversaynever.”
Prior to the song’s release, the superstar pair shared their excitement for the collaboration.
“I wrote ‘Never Say Never’ with Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill in 2018 about a relationship you just can’t stay away from,” Swindell said. “I have been a fan of Lainey Wilson’s for a while now and what she brings to this song is everything it needed. So glad it’s finally out!”
“’Things a Man Oughta Know’ was such an incredible ride, I can’t wait to get this next song out into the world and see where it leads,” Wilson added. “It makes the journey that much more special that I get to share it with a friend this time around—I’m looking forward to playing it for y’all, and I’m sure Cole is too!”
“Never Say Never” Marks Swindell’s 11th And Wilson’s 2nd No. 1 Hit
“Never Say Never” marks Swindell’s 11th chart-topper and follows his back-to-back No. 1 hits, “Love You Too Late” and “Single Saturday Night.”
The song also earned Wilson her second No. 1 hit, following Wilson’s first-ever No. 1 single, “Things A Man Oughta Know.”
