Brandon Davis revealed the advice Tim McGraw gave him and shared that he’s living out his dreams touring with the country singer.
Davis recently told Music Mayhem that he’s formed a friendship with McGraw and that the country hitmaker told him he’s doing a “great job” opening for him on tour.
“Absolutely,” Davis responded when asked if he and McGraw have become friends. In addition, Davis said he loves that McGraw is a “fitness nut” who “holds everyone accountable.”
“One good thing I do like is that Tim is a big fitness nut. The guy is a really good workout partner,” Davis explained. “I’ve gotten to participate in what they call the McGraw workout. He holds everybody accountable real well on it. I’ve connected with him well on the music side too. I love getting to just talk about the artists I grew up listening to that my dad introduced me to early on and on that subject we really connect.”
“I think the biggest thing is right after one of the first shows [on the tour], he was talking to me backstage and he was saying, ‘you’re doing a great job and I can see that you love what you do,’” Davis revealed when asked if McGraw’s ever given him advice. “In a sense, he said if you know this is where you need to be, then it’s where you need to be. He said ‘you’ve got a long life ahead of you in doing this.’ That inspired me to really know that at least I know I’m going in the right direction,” he added.
Davis, who McGraw recruited to be an opener on his 2022 tour via TikTok, said he was “blown away” that McGraw knew who he was. In addition, Davis shared that it took him a minute to process he’d be opening for McGraw on tour after the country singer called him personally to extend the invitation.
“I honestly don’t think my brain could function when I got that call, I just remember saying ‘absolutely’ a lot,” Davis explained.
McGraw recently praised Davis and fellow opener and viral TikTok sensation Alexandra Kay as “super talented” as well as “great singers and great people” with big careers ahead of them.
In addition to Davis and Kay, country singer Russell Dickerson is also opening for McGraw on his 2022 tour, which wraps up in just a few days.
