Blake Shelton sold his master recordings earlier this month (Oct. 4), according to a press release from PR Newswire. Influence Media Partners invested in the “No Body” singer’s musical catalog, in what was dubbed a “groundbreaking deal,” the same press release indicated.
Shelton reacted to the monumental decision saying he was “excited” to team up with Influence Media and introduce his music to the “next generation” of fans.
“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since my first album and single. Sometimes I still feel like the kid from Oklahoma I was back then! While a lot has changed during that time, my passion for music hasn’t. I’m excited to be working with Lylette, Rene and the team at Influence Media on so much of my catalog and to introduce my songs to the next generation of country fans,” Shelton shared.
Lynette Pizarro, the group’s founder and co-managing partner echoed Shelton’s sentiments.
“Blake is one of the most exciting luminaries to emerge in both country music and television in the past two decades. His music’s continued resonance with new and established audiences makes him the perfect business partner for Influence,” Pizzaro said.
“We’re particularly proud of the fact that Blake will continue to be an active participant in his catalog moving forward, and to have a tailored joint venture in place that will ensure he remains an active profit participant. We’re excited to work closely with Blake, his management team at Starstruck and our partners at Warner Music Nashville to identify strategic opportunities for his modern country classics,” she added.
The deal between Shelton and Influence Media covered all of his releases from 2001 to 2019, according to the release.
The sale of his master recordings is not the only big news Shelton has shared recently. On Oct. 11, the country singer announced he’d be leaving the NBC singing competition The Voice after season 23.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for a while and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after next season,” Shelton wrote in a statement he posted on social media.
While the news of Shelton’s departure from The Voice franchise is sad, fans can watch him on a new show. Shelton stars beside Voice host Carson Daly in the new bar games series, Barmaggedon, which premieres Dec. 5 on the USA Network.
In addition to starring in the series, Shelton and Daly are also serving as the show’s executive producers.
Additionally, Shelton will soon hit the road on his 18-date winter 2023 tour with special guests Carly Pearce and Jackson Dean.
“We’re throwing one hell of a party in 2023… the #BackToTheHonkyTonk Tour with @carlypearce and @thejacksondean is coming to a city near you!!! It’s going to be big,” Shelton wrote. “Tickets on sale September 16th and September 23rd – visit blakeshelton.com for more info. See y’all out there!!!”
The trek, dubbed the Back To The Honky Tonk Tour, will kick off on February 16 in Lincoln, NE at Pinnacle Bank Arena and continue through March 25, where the tour will wrap up at Keybank Center in Buffalo, NY.
“There’s nothing like getting out on the road and taking music to the fans,” Shelton said. “I feel just as excited to step on stage and perform as I did the very first time. I know my tour mates Carly Pearce and Jackson Dean feel the same, and I can’t wait for y’all to get to know them better. Break out the hats and boots, ‘cause we’re going back to the honky tonk!”
Fans can still watch Shelton on the current season of The Voice airing on NBC every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c.
