Ashley McBryde is one of multiple singers accompanying rapper-turned-country singer, Jelly Roll on his 2023 Backroad Baptism Tour. And although McBryde is stoked to hit the road with the “Son Of A Sinner” singer, she’s eyeing another potential venture with him: a collaboration.

“I hope we end up on a song. We’ve been making stuff up together, so we’ll see how that goes,” McBryde told Taste of Country about a potential collaboration between her and Jelly Roll.

“Do You Know This Guy Jelly Roll?

McBryde also shared that a musician friend of hers is responsible for introducing her to Jelly Roll’s music.

“So my neighbor in my little neighborhood is also a musician and he had text me one day and he said, ‘Hey, do you know this guy Jelly Roll? He’s a rapper.’ It felt like he was being, ‘Hang on, he’s a rapper, but you’re going to like him.’ And I was like, ‘no, I love new music to listen to,’” the “Brenda Put Your Bra On” singer said.

“So I [bring up] Apple Music and got on there and I clicked and I heard ‘Save Me’ and I was like, ‘excuse me.’ So I text my friend back and I was like, ‘I love this.’ And he’s like, ‘we hang out sometimes.’ I said, ‘Please tell him I cannot wait to meet him.’”

“Then my friend, Pillbox Patti does a tour with him. It was Jelly Roll and Brantley Gilbert and Pillbox Patti was part of that tour and she was like, ‘Dude, you’re going to love this guy.’ And I was like, ‘I know, I feel like we’re already friends, but we don’t know each other yet.’ So I went over to his place the other day to sing some stuff and make up things together. And when we finally embraced, because we’ve met at CMA Fest events and things like that and been friendly, but to finally really have a hug and really sit down and talk, we both felt like we had just already been friends for a long time and now we finally get to act on it,” she continued.

“I’d Love To Tour With You” McBryde Previously Told Jelly Roll

In recalling how she and Jelly Roll finally met in person, McBryde said the “Son Of A Sinner” singer asked her if she’d like to tour with him. She shared she was into the idea immediately.

“He had said, ‘Would you ever want to do some dates together? I’d love to tour with you.’ And I was like, ‘I’m down. You tell me when I’ll, I’ll be there.’ So that’s how that tour happened. He said he wanted to do it and I said I wanted to be in it,” she told the outlet.

The 2023 Backroad Baptism Tour

The “Son Of A Sinner” singer announced his 44-date headlining arena tour, Backroad Baptism in mid-February. In addition to McBryde, Elle King, Chase Rice, Merkules, Struggle Jennings, Three 6 Mafia, Yelawolf, and Josh Adam Meyers will also serve as support on select dates of the tour.

Jelly Roll posted a humorous clip on Instagram of him asking his tourmates to accompany him on the road. The clip is a play on scenes from the film Scary Movie and the iconic “Wazzup” phone calls. Once everyone is on the line, Jelly Roll asks them if they should all go on tour together.

The Backroad Baptism Tour kicks off on Jul. 28 at Bank Plus Amphitheater in Southhaven, Mississippi and runs through Saturday, October 14, wrapping up in Tampa, Florida at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre.
