Ashley McBryde is offering helpful motherly advice for everyday life in her brand new inspirational song, “Light On In The Kitchen.”

Written by McBryde with Connie Harrington and Jessi Alexander, the song, which will impact radio on March 27, shares a deeper meaning of always having a place to come back to even if you’ve been away for a very long time.

“Light On In The Kitchen” is a lyrically-driven ballad packed with wisdom that’s been affectionately shared with McBryde throughout the years. The Grammy-winning artist offers her signature storytelling vocals over a warm and welcoming rhythm that ties the song together fittingly.

“Always check the door before you lay down / Keep a glass of water by the bed / A dose of local honey / Will keep your nose from running / Little things like that she’s always said / Never back up farther than you have to / And pray for those that don’t have a prayer,” McBryde sings the first verse of the ballad, that’s reminiscent to Tim McGraw’s multi-award winning track, “Humble and Kind.”

McBryde then segues into a guiding chorus: “Honey trust yourself / You better love yourself / Cause ‘till you do / You ain’t no good for anybody else / And honey boys are dumb / But you’re gonna find you one / You’ll love him hard / And bless your heart / You’ll need someone to listen / That’s why I leave a light on in the kitchen.”

McBryde can certainly relate to the lyrics in “Light On In The Kitchen,” as she has spent most of her life on the road and often writes about her experiences being away from her loved ones.

She teased her latest track ahead of its release on Instagram, and also shared some of the women who have made a strong impact on her life by offering their advice.

“There are many women that have wisdom to share with us in this life. These are some of those women for me. Mom, Patti, Aubri, I love you so. The shoulders designed so perfectly to carry the world on them and still be every bit as gentle as a child… a young lady, and then a grown-a** woman may need…Thanks for teaching me all the stuff” McBryde captioned her post, which included the faces of the three women who she highlighted in her message. “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. These women, among others, inspired “Light On The Kitchen.” New song out TOMORROW! Pre-save / pre-add it now at the link in bio/stories. #LightOnInTheKitchen.”

McBryde further detailed the meaning behind her brand-new song in a press release, saying, “When I tell someone there’s a ‘Light On In The Kitchen’ for them, to me, it means you’re thinking of them, even if they’re not coming home that night. While writing this [song], we were all able to look back and remember the women in our lives who comforted us, gave us advice, and made sure we knew we had a place to go. Writing this song showed me how necessary that simple comfort had been.”

“I sent it to the important women in my life, and they reminded me that they still leave the kitchen light on for me, just like when I was growing up,” she continued. “Knowing someone, somewhere is thinking of you in that way can get you through a lot. And it’s a bonus that now we get to say, ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m thinking of you’ by saying ‘The light’s on for ya.’”

“Light On In The Kitchen” will impact country radio on March 27, 2023.

The release of  “Light On In The Kitchen” comes after McBryde’s successful two-night sold-out run of Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville Live at Ryman Auditorium, earlier this month. The back-to-back shows included special guests, Caylee Hammack (Night One), Lainey Wilson (Night Two), Shelly Fairchild, Pillbox Patti, TJ Osborne, Connie Harrington, Aaron Raitiere, and Benjy Davi.

“Light On In The Kitchen,” which serves as the lead single from McBryde’s as-yet-untitled upcoming fifth studio album, also follows McBryde’s first-ever Grammy-Award win. McBryde took home the GRAMMY for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her No. 1 duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Carly Pearce at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards.

McBryde has a busy schedule with shows taking place from now through Mid-September. Later this year, she will join Eric Church for two dates of his The Outsiders Revival Tour before taking the road as part of Jelly Roll’s Backroad Baptism Tour.
