Gabby Barrett’s “Pick Me Up” music video takes fans on a journey of a couple’s long-lasting love.
The clip, which features Barrett and her husband Cade Foehner making their acting debuts portraying the leading roles, follows a couple from the moment they met through their elderly years. The heartwarming storyline is intertwined with clips of Barrett performing the tune in a rural area.
Directed by Alexa Campbell, the video opens the moment the couple meets outside of what appears to be a high school in 1962 and goes on to show the couple aging as they take on adult responsibilities like paying bills while their daughter runs around the house.
Finally, the video concludes with Barrett and Foehner acting as an elderly couple. Barrett’s character is seen lying in a hospital bed as Foehner appears by her side with flowers, bringing a smile to her face.

This isn’t the first time Foehner has appeared in one of Barrett’s music videos. The American Idol alum also made cameos in the videos for “Footprints On The Moon” and “The Good Ones.”
Co-written by Barrett alongside Jon Nite and Ross Copperman, “Pick Me Up” appears on the deluxe edition of Barrett’s record-breaking debut album, Goldmine. Co-produced by Copperman and Zach Kale, with additional production from Jimmy Robbins, Sam Martin and Bryan Fowler, the 17-track project boasts 15 songwriting credits to Barrett’s name.
“I wrote ‘Pick Me Up’ with Ross [Copperman] and Jon [Nite]. I didn’t really have a song in my repertoire that was laid-back Country – a riding down the back roads while listening to George Strait-type of song,” Barrett shared. “I had to pay homage to George Strait because I feel like I’m being adopted into the Texas family with my husband being from Texas.”
The backroad ballad effortlessly paints the picture of a day that can only be fixed with a late-night drive with the person you love.
“You and Jesus can fix my soul,” she sings, “So pick me up, get me lost way out / Down a back two-lane / Little George Strait way on up / Get me outta my head and outta this town / And tell me no matter what / You’ll be by my side / Everything gonna be alright / Make the world go black, how you do me like that / When I climb up in your truck / Just pick me up.”
Foehner and Barrett met when they were both competing on Season 16 of American Idol in 2018. They got engaged in March 2019 and married a few short months later in October in Foehner’s home state of Texas.
In May 2020, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. Their daughter, Baylah May, turned one this past January.
Barrett will soon hit the road with Jason Aldean on the Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour, also featuring John Morgan and Dee Jay Silver.
Kicking off in Scranton, Pennsylvania on July 15th, the tour will visit 34 cities all over the country this summer before wrapping up on October 29 at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida.
