Bryce Leatherwood is sharing more about his career plans now that he’s been crowned the winner of season 22 of NBC’s The Voice. In a new interview with Music Mayhem, Leatherwood said he’s planning to move from his home state of Georgia to Nashville and that he hopes to play the Grand Ole Opry someday.
In discussing his plans to relocate to Nashville, Leatherwood said he’s “gotta save [his] money” so he can make the move.
“I’m planning on the move right now, just gotta figure out everything with my home scenario. I gotta save my money,” Leatherwood told Music Mayhem. “I’m still a broke college kid. I don’t care what prize money that they threw my way. I’m not even going to see that. That’s going to go in into some investments. So I just gotta stay young, stay broke, and stay hungry because thriving off a little, you can grow a lot more than thriving off a lot. So, I’m just very excited to pursue my career.”

Bryce Leatherwood Aspires To One Day Play The Grand Ole Opry
Besides moving to Music City at some point, Leatherwood also revealed another one of his aspirations: to play the Grand Ole Opry.
“Well, ever since I picked up a guitar, that’s been the dream of mine. So if I get that opportunity one day, that’ll be a dream come true. That’ll be a good day for Bryce Leatherwood. So I’m just ready to see what happens,” he said.
In the meantime, Leatherwood is staying busy working on his music. He said he’s been writing with other songwriters and trying to improve his craft.
“I have no original music out right now. I’ve been trying to make a catalog of songs that I’ve been trying to write on,” he explained. “I’m not the best verse writer, but I’ve been working on it because I mean, I think as an artist you have to be a writer too because I mean you have to truly be able to have input on other songs and on songs that you wanna sing that are yours. And I hope to become a better songwriter as I move to Nashville, as I’ve started writing with more people and I’m just super excited for what’s to come,” he added.
Being a country artist, Leatherwood says he’s influenced by a variety of other artists also in the genre. These artists include Alan Jackson, Thomas Rhett, Luke Bryan, and Sam Hunt. Something else they have in common besides being country artists? They’re all from Georgia.
And while sharing a home state with so many successful country artists is something Leatherwood appreciates, he says their success is about more than that.
“That’s it. Alan Jackson, Luke Bryan all them guys, they put themselves on the map, not just because they were from Georgia, but because they believed in, sang that they were from Georgia. It’s a sound and it’s a mentality of what life is about. So I’m just ready to tell the story of my life and go out there and introduce the world to Bryce Leatherwood.”
Following his Voice win, Leatherwood shared he’s in the process of meeting with his record label and getting ready to release music he wrote with his fellow season 22 contestants “soon.”
