Paramore’s Hayley Williams is the latest celebrity to be featured in Vogue‘s “Get Ready With Me” video series, sharing her prep routine ahead of the band’s recent concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the second of two sold-out shows at the venue.

Behind-The-Scenes Of Hayley Williams Show Prep Routine

Titled “Paramore’s Hayley Williams Gets Ready For Her LA Concert,” the clip begins with Williams taking the camera backstage at the Forum and into her dressing room.

“This is such a legendary place and we played last night, I was out of body the whole time,” Williams shared, “so now I get a second chance to be in my body for it.”

First up was hair and makeup, with Williams explaining why she used to be against wearing hair extensions. “Our band grew up in a time where, especially females, were picked apart in our scene,” she said. “I think in a lot of ways I probably wouldn’t have been caught dead doing a lot of fashion stuff, because it was just ‘What is being a poser’ and ‘What is being punk’ and ‘Where are my scene points?’”

“Now, there’s a lot more understanding of what presentation and expression means to the overall person,” she continued. “I’m so glad we’ve grown out of that s—. I mean, I am a 34-year-old woman. Now you get to have fun.”

Custom Outfits By Rodarte

Both of Williams’ outfits for Paramore’s Kia Forum shows were custom-made for her by Rodarte. The first night, she wore a black and silver checkered mini dress, while the second night’s performance featured a gold set with ruffled detailing and a ’70s vibe.

Voluminous hair and a red lip completed the look, and Williams was ready to hit the stage after completing her vocal warmups. “What an amazing, freeing feeling to just show up as myself and not have to cover up anything, or feel like I’m supposed to,” she said.

Recently Forced To Postpone Several Concerts

Paramore is currently on the road on their This Is Why Tour, though the band recently postponed several shows due to an illness Williams later revealed to be her own.

“In all seriousness, this past week has been really tough,” she wrote in a message on Paramore’s official Discord channel. “Nobody would know this but I started getting sick in Houston (non contagious) and muscled my way all the way through LA. Adrenaline is a wonder! But by the time the excitement and the nerves from all the LA shenanigans wore off, my body just gave out.”

Responds To Internet Trolls

On Monday, the singer responded to trolls who criticized her reasoning behind postponing the shows, revealing that she had a lung infection and couldn’t simply play through it, as some people had suggested she do. One tweet referenced Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, who performed after he fell off the stage and broke his leg in 2015, which Williams pointed out is a different category of ailment than what she suffered from. “I have a lung infection you soft s—!” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “Not a broken limb. One you can sing with for 2 hours, another you cant.”

In a further message, she added, “internet bros have been pressed by my proximity to rock music and all its subgenres since 2005. the only thing thats changed is the platform from which they spew their ignorance. don’t think for a second your fav bands – metal or punk or otherwise – endorse your weird incel ass lifestyle. so many of these bands have stood side stage at our shows and treat us with respect. why? bc they aren’t threatened by a strong woman front a great band in a completely diff genre of music.”

Following their own trek, Paramore will head across the pond with Taylor Swift to serve as support on all 48 of the pop star’s European Eras Tour dates, which begin on May 9 in Paris and conclude on August 17 with the last of the tour’s six dates at Wembley Stadium in London.
