Trisha Yearwood admitted that it was the “ultimate compliment” when Miranda Lambert asked her to feature her mother’s roast turkey recipe in her new cookbook, Y’all Eat Yet? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen.

Trisha Yearwood Reacts To Miranda Lambert’s Use Of Her Roast Turkey Recipe

During a recent discussion with Music Mayhem at the grand opening of Garth Brooks’ Friends In Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk in Nashville, the country music icon expressed that it was an honor that one of her mother’s recipes has become a staple in Lambert’s family so much so that she wanted to include the recipe within her cookbook.

“I love it when somebody wants to share this recipe,” Yearwood admitted.

The “She’s In Love With The Boy” singer then went on to detail what the recipe entailed. “My mom had a no base, no bother Turkey that people don’t believe it works. You have a really hot oven, and I don’t know if your mom did this, but staying up all night basing the Turkey so it doesn’t dry out. My mom had this failsafe recipe that you never had to do that you put in the oven, and you go to bed and no one believes it works, but it works beautifully,” she explained.

“So that was the recipe that she asked for, and put it in the book, and it’s the ultimate compliment when somebody wants to share your food,” Yearwood continued, before acknowledging her willingness to share her recipes rather than keeping them a secret. “I’ve never been that girl who’s like, I’m not going to tell you what I put in that. I don’t want to keep the recipe secret. If you love it, I want you to be able to make it at home,” Yearwood added.

Why Lambert Included A Yearwood Family Recipe In Her Cookbook

In November of 2023, Lambert elaborated on her decision to include Trisha Yearwood‘s Thanksgiving turkey recipe into her cookbook. At the time, the Texas native explained that the recipe had become a staple within her family, as they had been making it for over a decade.

“We started doing the Trisha Yearwood Thanksgiving turkey as a family about a decade ago,” Lambert said in a clip, shared to TikTok. “And it has been a staple on our holiday tables for a long time. So we really felt strongly about asking Trisha to make an appearance in our book with her turkey, and she said ‘yes.’”

Y’all Eat Yet? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen

Miranda Lambert released her first-ever cookbook, titled Y’all Eat Yet? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen, nearly one year ago on April 25, 2023.

The cookbook went on to sell tens of thousands of copies and earn Lambert the title of New York Times best-selling author as the book landed at no. 3 on the How To, Advice & Miscellaneous Books list. After hearing the news that her cookbook has earned her that title, she shared her reaction with Music Mayhem. “I was shocked, but so thankful that the stories of our sisterhood resonated with so many other people. That made it even more special, getting to share the celebration with my mom and the ya yas,” she said at the time.

She later shared her raw reaction in a video on Instagram. “OMG y’all! I just got a call from my publishers that Y’ALL EAT YET? Welcome to the Pretty B*tchin’ Kitchen is No. 3 on the New York Times Best Selling list. I can’t actually believe that. I’m so grateful and just – I can’t believe it. It’s for my Nonny in Heaven. She’s partying tonight; I know it. And I’m just beside myself that people would want to hear our stories and join our sisterhood. This is crazy. So, thanks to everybody who bought it and who is reading it. I love y’all – welcome to the tribe!”

About Miranda Lambert’s Cookbook

The book offers fans a look into the ACM Triple Crown honoree’s life at home and on the road. Readers will also learn more about her Texas roots and backstories about her life, career, and the strong women who influenced her growing up.

“Watching my mom and her friends, I saw the way pitching in, working together, loving music and being there for each other is the greatest gift you can have in life. I think my mom inherited that gift from her mom, because they both attracted the most awesome group of girlfriends,” she previously shared.

One of Miranda Lambert favorite recipes also appears in the book. “My mom’s meatloaf is definitely the standout dish in the book. That’s been famous in our family for a long time and is always what gets requested for special occasions, so it’s been really fun to see it shine on such a bigger scale,” Lambert explained to Music Mayhem.
