Fans of hard rockers All That Remains were shocked and deeply saddened when guitarist Oli Herbert suddenly passed away on October 16th at the age of 44 near his home in Connecticut. Many, including Herbert’s band mates, were left with a ton of questions surrounding the circumstances leading to his death.

Just yesterday, Herbert’s widow, Beth took to social media to reveal Herbert’s cause of death citing the return of toxicology reports from the coroners office. The band’s publicity team had previously cited that Herbert had “died unexpectedly as a result of an accident which occurred on the property of his home”.  His body was discovered in a pond near his property by authorities after he was reported missing and a search was conducted.

Beth said in a Facebook post, which has since been deleted that “Toxicology results are back as is the official cause of my husband’s death. Cause of death – drowning. Toxicology: Oli was apparently self-treating for manic-depression that has run in his family for several generations. Anti-depressants were found in his system, as well as a sleep aid.

The psych meds found in his system were the same ones that a close relative has been prescribed for a long time, so he knew what to hunt down for the ‘treatment’.

Seeing how he was not going – and wouldn’t go – to a doctor to get diagnosed with the issue and was not being prescribed the medications and monitored on them, it explains his occasional erratic behaviour here at home.”

As a result of the toxicology reports being revealed a planned memorial service for Herbert was abruptly cancelled, as his widow Beth claimed she feared for her personal safety and has received numerous threats to her home. But, one has to wonder why?

Here is where this case is taking a bit of a strange turn, as it seems that several sources close to Herbert and the case have revealed that Herbert’s death may not have been accidental at all, but he have actually been murdered. These claims are still being investigated for validity, however there is definitely some strong evidence that points towards Herbert’s widow and an accomplice playing a role in his untimely passing.

While we can not be sure if the “Washington Pundit” is a reliable source, they are claiming via their Facebook page that he was indeed murdered with a post that reads, “Oli Herbert’s Death is being looked into as possible murder after being ruled an accident. His wife is suspected of playing a role in his death. ‪Oli Herbert’s Will was changed one week before he went missing. His wife, Beth, and her friend are suspected to have forged his will.”

The Washington Pundit Facebook page goes on to show visual proof that it appears that Herbert’s Will had been tampered with and that it was not properly notarized. They also go on to reveal insider text messages sent from Herbert claiming that he was considering a divorce from Beth.

Only time will tell the outcome of this tragic situation and we can only hope that due justice will be served.  As for the band, All That Remains are currently urging fans to submit guitar tributes in Oli’s memory and front man Phil Labonte revealed in an interview that Jason Richardson (formerly of Chelsea Grin and Born of Osiris) would be filling in as lead guitarist for their upcoming tours.

Fans have also created a Facebook page called ‘Justice For Oli Herbert,’ which is fans who think the storyline and details of Herbert’s death don’t add up. They post updates and additional news and details on the investigation as it continues. See some of their posts below:
