McCoy Moore is reflecting on what it’s like to make his touring debut on such a massive scale as part of HARDY’s JIM BOB WORLD TOUR.

McCoy Moore Talks Whirlwind Experience Of Touring With HARDY

Ahead of night two of the trek, the fast-rising country star, who delivered a 45-minute set that featured performances of “John Deere Blue,” “Something To You,” “Bible And A Bar,” “Naming Boats” and more, sat down with Music Mayhem and opened up about the whirlwind experience of performing in arenas and amphitheaters for the first time.

“It definitely is crazy to be playing arenas and amphitheaters,” Moore admitted. “We just played Whiskey Jam in Nashville this past Monday, so it’s pretty nuts. Last night in Chula Vista, California was my first amphitheater, and tonight in Vegas, T-Mobile Arena will be my first arena show. So it’s been cool. I kind of tried to soak it up, every minute of it. It still is pretty crazy to me.”

McCoy Moore, a 24-year-old Lakeland, Florida native, also shared a sneak peek into what fans can expect from his live show during the tour. “Honestly, man, we’re playing a bunch of new stuff. I mean, being a new artist is so fun. Nobody really knows the songs yet. So it’s nice when you see people find something new that they love, and I’m just excited to get to do it every night with HARDY,” Moore said.

While this may be Moore’s first major tour, he and HARDY already formed a friendship offstage well before the JIM BOB WORLD TOUR kickoff. “We spent some time watching football together in the fall and became pretty good buddies,” Moore revealed.

The tourmates spent some time at the casino before the show at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. “We actually, before this show today, we just went and put a little money on the roulette wheels, so I won $600. I was pretty happy about that,” he added.

Signed First Major Record Deal With Sony Music Nashville

Adding to the “craziest week” of McCoy Moore‘s life, he recently signed his first major record deal with Sony Music Nashville in partnership with Cervidae Records.

“Days like today make all the time I put into this dream worth it and lights the fire under me all over again,” Moore said via a statement in a press release. “I couldn’t be more excited to partner with Sony Music Nashville, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together as a team. I have the best people around me, and we’re just getting started. It’s such a cool day for me – I’m so thankful.”

“John Deere Blue” Arrives

He released his first single on his new label home, “John Deere Blue,” which was co-written by Moore alongside Shane McAnally and Johnny Clawson and produced by Will Bundy,” just a few days after signing his record deal.

“We sat down, and we were writing a totally different song. And if you know who Shane McAnally is, incredible songwriter, but he brought in this idea, and we were writing it, and I think Johnny said this line that was the hook to ‘John Deere Blue,’ which is ‘I’ll get over you when they paint a John Deere Blue.’ And so we ended up writing that song and I had no idea that it would be the first single out with Sony, but here we are,” Moore explained of the track. “And I’m so excited. I love the song, and it’s so much fun to play every single night. So I’m just thankful it’s getting the spotlight as my first one.”

Impacts Country Radio In His Hometown Of Lakeland, Florida

And the song has already hit the radio air waves in his hometown.

“It was pretty crazy, man. I woke up, and my mom was telling me, oh, we got our clock set, we’d got all this stuff. And we all listened to it live in the morning, and it really is surreal. I grew up in Lakeland, Florida… when I was growing up, I sat in a little Dale Earnhardt car seat and I sang along to that station and to hear my own song and my own voice and the lyrics that we wrote together, it’s like, it’s crazy, man. You can’t really plan for that feeling until it’s there,” he said, reacting to hearing his song on the radio for the first time.

Recalled The Past Few Years Of His Life

He also recalled the past few years of his life. “If you would’ve told me eight years ago that I would be standing here in T-Mobile Arena tonight opening for Hardy and Stephen Wilson Jr. I would’ve told you, you were crazy,” he admitted. “It definitely is just surreal, man. It’s like I walked out there for sound check, and you just see the seats, and it’s still just wild to me. I can’t believe it. But growing up in Lakeland, I was totally prepared to just be a lineman or do this or do that, and I was completely fine with it. And this kind of just fell into my heart and picked up a guitar and here we are. It’s crazy.”

Moore remains on the road with HARDY through summer and will also join Chase Rice in the fall. Additionally, McCoy Moore will take the stage at several festivals, including Tailgate N’ Tallboys, Voices of America Country Music Festival and more.
