Every New Year, people all over the country find themselves reevaluating their life decisions and coming up with resolutions that will improve their daily lives. Interestingly, the three most popular goals Americans have set for 2023, according to a survey conducted by Statista.com, include exercising more, eating healthier, and losing weight.

Luckily, folks planning to take on one, two, or all three challenges can turn to Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay for inspiration. And, if the bad habits come creeping back up, they can look to the superstar’s social media pages for encouragement and a little extra motivation to get back on track.

Mooney, 31, one-half of the award-winning country music duo Dan + Shay, recently shared a couple of photos on Instagram, displayed side-by-side. The pictures show his incredible weight loss transformation, which he says took him half a year to achieve. The second of the two images gives fans a visual that makes clear just how much weight he shed during the course of six months.

“Consistency,” Mooney captioned beneath the post, revealing the key to his successful slimming results. “I changed my entire world in 6 months. No gimmicks or fads. Just consistency. If that tired guy on the left can do it, so can you. 💪🏻.”

“You should be proud!” Carrie Underwood commented below Mooney’s post, which received countless positive reactions from the country music community.

“Damn, son. Looking 🔥,” Charles Kelley of Lady A added, inserting a fire emoji into his post.

News of Mooney’s weight loss has been circulating in recent months, and it’s no doubt an inspiration to see he is maintaining his athletic physique.

Leading up to his most current weight-loss-themed post, Mooney shared a video that looks into the moments he experienced over the past few months as he continued to pursue a healthier and more active lifestyle.

“It’s weird not recognizing yourself. I got to a place mentally and physically that I will never go again,” Mooney wrote alongside the clip. “It matters what we eat. It matters who you spend your time with. It matters what you choose to spend your time on. I’m so thankful for the people in my life that helped me make a change. No one forced me into this. I wanted to change my life for me. I’ve never felt more alive. I’m not looking for mediocrity…let’s go find greatness.”

Late last year, the father of two, who is expecting baby number three with his wife, Hannah, nearly rendered fans “Speechless” when he debuted his new appearance. Mooney shared a snapshot on Instagram that features him posing with his son, Asher, and includes the caption “Life gets better every day ❤️.”

According to People, the Arkansas native later revealed he shed more than 50 lbs since beginning his fitness journey.

“Thank you guys so much for all your kind words about me looking healthy,” he wrote in an Instagram story, as reported by the publication. “Really means a lot. Been a little over 5 months, I believe, and I’m down almost 50 lbs. For those asking: Eating clean/not drinking alcohol, and walking 7 miles a day. And some weights. That’s it! I completely changed my lifestyle, and I’ve never felt better physically, mentally, and spiritually.”

Afterward, Mooney appeared on a segment of TODAY with his bandmate Dan Smyers and opened up about experiencing weight loss.

“I gotta stand next to this guy all of the time,” the singer began, directing the attention toward duet partner, Smyers, on why he decided to break his bad habits. “I had this moment where I was just not feeling healthy. It wasn’t necessarily for my appearance, but it was to feel healthy. And I’m down about 53 or 54 pounds.”
