Hot off the heels of their viral smash “you look like you love me,” Riley Green and Ella Langley are at it again, teaming up — this time — for the pensive “Don’t Mind If I Do.” The heartbreaking track serves as the title track from Green’s upcoming full-length studio album of the same name, set to arrive on Oct. 18.

Listen To Riley Green And Ella Langley’s “Don’t Mind If I Do”

“Don’t Mind If I Do” is a contemplative confessional that plays out like a letter to an ex. In the track, Green relies heavily on whiskey to numb the pain of a breakup. Although he turns to the bottle, he admits his vice doesn’t necessarily keep him from showing up at his love interest’s house with wishes to hold her once again.

“And I don’t mind if i do / Drink up the nerve to show up at your house / If you wanna know the truth, it’s killin’ me not holdin’ you right now / I’m one memory away from fallin’ all the way apart / ‘Cause I might still love you / Hope you don’t mind if I do,” Green sings the chorus of the slow-tempo country ballad.

The raw emotion and pure vulnerability in Green’s voice carries the tune as he shares his story over a delicate and moody acoustic melody. Langley joins in with angelic harmonies before leading listeners to the female’s perspective, which finds her mirroring Green’s feelings, and agreeing that “If fallin’ into me is the only thing / You think is gonna get you through / Then I don’t mind if you do.”

Riley Green Self-Penned “Don’t Mind If I Do”

While Green and Langley inarguably work effortlessly together, Green didn’t call on his collaborator to co-write “Don’t Mind If I Do.” In fact, he penned the song solely on his own, and his strong penmanship proves that he is a mainstay as both a performer and a songwriter in country music.

Sharing the inspiration behind the track with Music Mayhem, Green said, “I wrote this song based off of the line ‘I’m one memory away from falling all the way apart’ trying to capture that moment when you think you’re almost over someone, but one thought can pull you back into how much you miss that relationship. It quickly evolved into a duet, and I didn’t really have anyone in mind for this song, but I had Ella originally cut vocals on it for a demo, and she killed it in the studio.”

He then admitted, “I couldn’t imagine having someone else on the song after hearing her sing it.”

New Album, Don’t Mind If I Do

As previously shared, “Don’t Mind If I Do,” serves as the title track to Green’s highly-awaited next album, which marks his third full-length debut overall. The country singer/songwriter announced the news of his forthcoming release at his new Nashville bar, Riley Green’s Duck Blind, which celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday (Sept. 3).

“We couldn’t bring everyone out here to celebrate and not share more exciting news with you,” Green told attendees onstage. “My brand-new album, Don’t Mind If I Do, will be out Oct. 18. It feels fitting that it’s coming out on my birthday because this project feels very true to who I am, where I come from and what I’ve learned along the way. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it!”
