Priscilla Block Recalls An Unforgettable Moment Of Generosity With Randy Travis That Made Her Cry

A kind and very generous offering from country music icon Randy Travis once brought Priscilla Block to tears.

The rising star recalled a special moment with country icon Randy Travis at the Nashville Palace, where he shocked her and others performing alongside her at the venue. The singer signed a jacket, given to him by the Nashville Palace, which he wanted to auction off to give the proceeds to the band on stage, which included Block. 

“I was playing at the Nashville Palace with some friends and I look out and it’s Randy Travis just sitting there, hanging out,” Block began to explain. “The night went on, he watched the entire set, and midway through, one of the workers there was like, ‘Hey-Randy wants to auction this jacket off for you guys.’ We’re all like, ‘Whatttt?’ So, the Nashville Palace gave Randy a jacket that said Nashville Palace on it. It was really cool. It was one of their super special jackets, I’m sure. And he signed it and said let’s give it to the band.”

Block continued, “The worker there was like we’re gonna auction off this signed Randy Travis jacket and all the money’s gonna go to the band up on stage. People are calling out all throughout the restaurant, raising hands, raising hands. We were sitting up on stage, I am crying. Once again one of those moments that no one knows where you’re at in life, and that meant more to me than anything in the world. He didn’t have to do that, but he did.”

“So, Randy Travis is incredible, everyone knows this. What a freaking legend, right?” Block added.

“Less than a year ago, I was moving out of my apartment because I couldn’t afford my rent. I had no clue,” the North Carolina native previously recalled to Lauren Jo Black on Connect With Country Now. “I mean, you want to talk about rock bottom. That was me less than a year ago. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do music. I didn’t know what my life looked like.”

However, the hitmaker never gave up hope of pursuing her dreams of being a country music singer and she kept pushing forward.

“To think that here we are now, it’s like, ‘Dang, you just never know what tomorrow is going to bring. And like, just what’s after maybe ‘rock bottom.’ So you just gotta keep pushing,” she continued to tell Country Now. 

Thankfully, the Universal Music Group signee continued to pursue country music as just about a year ago, her single “Just About Over You” went viral on TikTok, allowing her to make her Grand Ole Opry debut and earned her a record deal, which allowed her to release her self-titled debut EP. The EP includes the aforementioned debut single as well as fan-favorite tracks such as “Wish You Were The Whiskey,” “Sad Girls Do Sad Things” and more.

Additionally, the singer’s major-label debut single “Just About Over You” is climbing the charts approaching the Top 25 at country radio, following her performance during Nashville Fourth Of July Event. Block acted as support for Brad Paisley during the annual Independence Day celebration, performing to nearly 350,000 people. 

Later this year, Block will be hitting the road with Ashley McBryde, the tour will kick off on August 17 in New York and visit major cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and more before wrapping up at The National in Richmond, VA on January 8th, 2022.
