Post Malone and Morgan Wallen have officially dropped their long-awaited collaboration, “I Had Some Help,” after months of teasing the track. The tune, released on Friday (May 10) via Mercury Records / REPUBLIC in partnership with Big Loud Records, is destined to quickly become the soundtrack of summer.

Produced by Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome and Hoskins, the song was written by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen alongside Louis Bell, Ryan Vojtesak, Ashley Gorley, ERNEST and Hoskins.

“I had some help/ It ain’t like I can make this kind of mess all by myself/ Don’t act like you ain’t help me pull that bottle on the shelf/ Been deep in every weekend if you couldn’t tell/ They say team work makes the dream work/ Hell I had some help,” the hitmakers sing on the chorus.

“I Had Some Help” Music Video

In addition to releasing the anthemic duet, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen also dropped the music video for the track. Directed by Chris Villa and filmed at the Joshua Tree Saloon in California, the “I Had Some Help” music video begins with Post Malone in a telephone booth arguing with his lover, who was yelling at him and accusing him of being drunk. The opening clip was soundtracked by his 2023 hit “Chemical,” which played softly in the background. Post Malone then slams the phone down as he and his girlfriend’s argument got heated, and he exited the booth and made his way into the bar.

Once arriving into the bar, he grabbed a microphone and threw a rowdy karaoke party that ultimately led to the bouncers physically removing him from the bar. Luckily, Wallen was on hand outside the bar, and he dusted him off and continued the party outside the bar.

The clip also features footage of Post Malone and Morgan Wallen singing the tune in the back of a flatbed truck beneath a massive American flag in Joshua Tree, California, dispersed throughout the storyline of the video.

The collaboration comes after the pair teased the track for months on social media and following the live debut of the song, which Post Malone and Morgan Wallen delivered on the “Mane Stage” at Stagecoach last month in the midst of Wallen’s headlining set.

The Song Will Appear On Post Malone’s First-Ever Country Album

“I Had Some Help” marks the first single from Post Malone’s forthcoming first-ever, full-length country album. The highly-anticipated project has yet-to-be announced, however he has been teasing for quite some time now. The album will likely feature collaborations with Luke Combs, Brad Paisley, Jelly Roll and more.

Post Malone first confirmed the country project during a Twitch livestream on his channel. “Country record is coming,” he revealed. “I keep singing a song that we made while I was in Nashville, and it’s so f—ing sick, but it’s not out.” He added, “We made such sick music down in Nashville… It was so much, so much fun.”

The Texas Native Has Been Dabbling In Country Music For Quite Some Time

Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, has been teasing his arrival in the Country music genre for years now, beginning with his performance on Matthew McConaughey’s We’re Texas fundraiser in March of 2021, where he performed a series of country covers (including a viral cover of Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her”) alongside Dwight Yoakam’s band.

He initially shared that he has been toying with the idea of a country album while speaking to Howard Stern on The Howard Stern Show in June 2022. “To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube,” he said. “I’m allowed to do that. I’m a human being.”

He made his official debut into the Country music space during at the 2023 CMA Awards, where he joined HARDY and Morgan Wallen on stage for a collaborative performance of Joe Diffie’s iconic 1993 hit, “Pickup Man.” He also channeled his inner cowboy at the event with a country-inspired look on the red carpet.

Post Malone recently delivered an epic set of ’90s Country covers at Stagecoach last month. Not only did he sing covers of iconic country hits by George Strait, Tim McGraw, Vince Gill, Randy Travis and more, but he also brought out several country superstars, including Sara Evans, Brad Paisley and Dwight Yoakam.

Additionally, Post Malone will deliver another set full of country music hits at Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco in August of 2024.
