Post Malone is one step closer to releasing his first-ever debut country album. That is, according to an answer he gave in April during the grand opening of his custom-designed Raising Cane’s restaurant near his home in Midvale, Utah.

“I’ll Do It Whenever The Time Is Right In The Studio”

Someone from the radio station 93.3 The Bull happened to be on hand at the event and asked the Grammy-nominated and Diamond Certified artist whether or not he was going to commit to the idea of dropping a country-themed project.

“I think I’ll do it whenever the time is right in the studio, and I’m just vibing, f***ing around,” Post Malone confirmed. “I think it’ll be a fun time [and] I just like creating stuff and making everything.”

While Malone is most known for blending genres and subgenres of hip-hop, pop, and R&B, he is no stranger to country music. In fact, he previously covered a plethora of country songs, showing his love of the genre. Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” Dwight Yoakam’s “Thousand Miles From Nowhere,” Hank Williams Jr’s “There’s a Tear in my Beer,” and Sturgill Simpson’s “You Can Have The Crown” are among some of the country renditions that Malone has put his vocals on.

“There’s Nothing Stopping Me From… Just Recording A Country Album”

Post Malone also shared his interest in releasing a country album before during a guest appearance on The Howard Stern Show, as previously shared on Music Mayhem

“To be honest, there’s nothing stopping me from taking a camera or setting up in my studio in Utah and just recording a country album [to put] on YouTube,” Malone said at the time. “I’m allowed to do that. I’m a human being.”

Giving a reason as to why he hadn’t done the task yet, Malone said, “I split my time between a lot of different things because I am happily obligated to do concerts and show love to my fans … and then I’m happily obligated to write music and make beats by myself, and I’m happily obligated to, you know, take care of my family. So, it’s a lot of time, and it’s about finding that space to allot that time. If I get another year to myself, maybe I’ll make a f–king country album.”

Gearing Up To Release New Album, Austin

At the time of the interview, Malone had also hinted that the follow-up to his fourth full-length project, Twelve Carat Toothache, could be a country release. However, that is not the case, as he recently announced via Twitter that his next album will be called Austin. And it sounds like the collection will run in a similar vein to his previous projects.

“Proud to announce my new album titled Austin dropping on July 28th,” Malone, whose full name is Austin Richards Post, tweeted alongside a picture of himself dipping his feet into a swimming pool. “This whole deal has been one of the most challenging, rewarding, and exciting records I’ve worked on. I feel it captures who I am as a man and as an artist in this moment.”

“Thank y’all so much for your patience, and Thank you for being there with me in my hardest times. I love y’all so much and am ready to f—king party with y’all. Cheers, and keep spreading love — Austin,” he wrote, closing out his message.

Austin, which features Malone’s previously released tracks, “Chemical” and “Mourning,” will be available on July 28 via Republic Records/Mercury Records.
